Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 3, 2021 (edited May 18, 2021)Oooooak! Signature Wild Turkey dry charred oak bite throughout. With Werther’s caramel candy, cacao nibs, mandarin oranges and cinnamon buns nestled in an old leather lounge chair. The finish is long and heart warming. -
A sinus burner - this one needs to sit in the glass for a while to calm down and open up. Then it reveals strong honey suckle, dried raisons, and candied orange lozenges. This translates into dates, prunes, and black currants smothered in dark honey on the palate. Next few sips add a hint of bitter cacao paste and liquorice to the mix. The finish is very warming with more dark dried fruits and lingering honey. Most reviews suggest adding water to this one. Add only a drop or two,no more! Too much water takes a rich and diverse experience and simplifies it into nothing more than honey prunes and pepper.

Old Pulteney 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 18, 2021 (edited May 9, 2021)Brine, salt and tangy orange creamsicle nose. More brine and creamsicle on the tasting, with clotted cream, sour berries, and freshly cut alfalfa. Followed by a medium dry black pepper warm finish that lasts just long enough to put a content relaxed smile on your face. A very good dram!64.0 CAD per Bottle -
Caramel, honey, vanilla, orange, and red apple flavours with a hint of cherry. Yum! Leading to salty maple, baking spices, and dark chocolate. Finishes with more baking spices, cloves, slightly bitter dark chocolate, and black pepper. Like the 81, there is lots of oak in this one with a drying finish. But not as much char, and not as dry as 81. An exceptional bourbon, especially considering the price. Honestly, it’s near the same league as Eagle Rare at a much lower price"38.0 CAD per Bottle

Its like Wild Turkey 81 (not 101) on steroids. Like 81, its limited to caramel, vanilla, and black pepper, but with a bit of sweet corn syrup and cooked ham not present in 81. But it’s all amped up to 10 in Rare Breed! The finish ads cloves and a nice tobacco bite with lots of dry charred oak that is very warming. Be careful though, it’s a strong one but is still smooth and easy drinking (like 81) so it can get you in over your head (literally) quickly - sip it slowly. It is excellent with ice also, but unfortunately ice makes it too syrupy, so if you like it cold, chill it in the fridge. However it doesn’t score as high as 101 because its missing the candied apples, cherry, and baking spices present in 101. It doesn’t have the richness and array of flavours present in 101.58.0 CAD per Bottle
