Funkiness flavor and [a little too] strong with alcohol. Flower pedals, like, from a thick tropical plant. Watery mouth-feel. It is...different...in its flavors. Not saying it's bad, just a unique experience for me. I don't know if it would be good for mixing. The retro-hale is odd, with strong notes of Vic's Niquil Original upfront, along with rubbing alcohol. Rating based on neat sipping.42.95 USD per Bottle

The aroma is both sherry and bourbon...odd but cool. Consistency is watery but that doesn't detract from the experience, just an observation. For me, I can taste the bourbon because I'm not a fan, but ya know, it doesn't dominate, so I find this still a good sipper. The sherry is there to lend a gentle sweetness. Holmes Cay Trinidad 2012 11 Year
Aged Rum — Caribbean , Trinidad
Reviewed January 23, 2024 (edited January 24, 2024)Okay, the ABV is too high for my tastes and thus the low score. It simply overpowers the flavors for me. Definitely has a floral taste. It's hard for me to nail anything else down. The aroma is similar but slightly sweeter and more pleasant. A couple or three hearty drops of water brought out a caramely aroma AND helped to reduce the heat, making it a little easier to sip. Given the cost of this rum, it would be a waste to use it as a mixer but that's all it's going to be good for, for me. Actually, it's really not that good as a mixer for me. Rating based on 2oz neat sipping and 3 solid drops of water.149.95 USD per Bottle -
Bourbon and mild apricot sweetened aroma. As mentioned by others, I do get that overall floral category in the flavor. While it does have the traditional Bourbon taste, thankfully, for me, I don't get any rye flavors! It does have a sweetness to it, like candied orange. I think I get some baking spice as well. While certainty not the definition of smooth, it goes down smoothly enough to fit in that category. Rating based on neat sipping.

Cracked open the mini-bottle and took a whiff: smells just like a light American beer (e.g., Coors Light). Seriously. So i dumped it into my rocks glass -- neat, of course -- and took another nasal inhalation. Yup, that is Coors Light if i ever smelled it! Oh gawd, what's it gonna taste like? Oooh, okay, that ain't no beer. Whew! I'm getting smooth honey. Nice. Hints of orange peel in the retro-hale. Getting some vanilla as well. Wow, not bad, not bad at all. Overall, honey & that traditional "Irish whiskey" flavors are the most dominant. Rating based on neat sipping.
