Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or Sauternes Cask Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 12, 2023Aroma of plum with slight honey and vanilla. Flavors: Sweet water, spicy citrus, and pear. Definitely pear. But is there a tag for pear? NOPE! And we can't add it :-( Ratings based on neat sipping. -
Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 26, 2023Aroma: Red/Dark fruit like plumbs and/or figs. Maybe some red apple. Taste: Too much alcohol burn. Not much flavor, really. Some cinnamon (sweet burn). Reviews based on neat sipping. -
Dalwhinnie 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 30, 2022 (edited April 18, 2023)Aromas of fresh cranberries first, then honey next. And more cranberries. Flavors of honey & vanilla, of course. Love it. There's some oak as well. It has a good smoothness that the aging brings, so that alcohol bite is barely there.79.95 USD per Bottle -
Hamilton Single Cask Strength Collection Foursquare 10 Year Old Barbados Rum
Aged Rum — Barbados
Reviewed December 13, 2022 (edited October 25, 2023)The aroma is caramel, merengue, and vanilla. There's too much alcohol burn for my tongue and gums to be pleasant. Anyway, there's mostly cinnamon flavor. Retro-hale is caramel. Now, add a splash of water and things get a little better. Not worth the cost in my opinion. Rating is based on neat sipping.92.95 USD per Bottle -
Hampden Estate 8 Year Pure Single Jamaican Rum
Aged Rum — Jamaica
Reviewed December 12, 2022 (edited October 25, 2023)Aroma is ripened banana, pineapple, and funk. Also, some sweetened car exhaust and green apple. Hey, I'm just smellin' what I'm smellin'. Getting flavors out of it is a little tougher. Yeah, there's the hogo. A quick sip does hit one with the bourbon taste and its smell in the retro-hale. Holding it a bit longer returns, well, alcohol burn to be honest, but pineapple as well. After-taste is a faint caramel...and hogo. Hogo is everywhere. Missing information: Aged in ex-Bourbon casks. Rating is based on neat sipping.79.25 USD per Bottle -
Port aroma, Jamaican funk, and very faint banana. Yes, this is odd, but the first sip has a hit of pink bubblegum! The expected port flavor comes to the rescue quickly with mixed fruit flavors following. Because of the port flavor, I think this would not be a go-to for cocktails. Brown sugar, gingerbread, anise/licorice & cloves aroma from the bottle. Smells sweet. Dark, unmistakably rum. Sweet taste. Brown sugar. The anise flavor upsets the rum taste experience. If you're not into port wine and want a desert drink then here you go. Mixed with cola it was just too sweet for me so if looking to sweeten a drink this would be your "go to" rum. Tasting based on neat sipping.35.95 USD per Bottle
