Floral smell with a touch of honey. Slightly too much alcohol burn to enjoy neat. Has a flat herbal taste that finishes so clean as to leave no residual taste. Now add 2 or 3 drops of water and things change for the better! Smells of chocolate bordering on toffee and less of rubbing alcohol. It goes across the tongue more oily feeling than watery, smoother. Hard butterscotch candy...that's what I'm getting now but still some herbalness. Nothing offensive with this but nothing special to me, particularly at the price. I'd rather spend the money on an Irish whiskey.72.95 USD per Bottle

Aroma: Honey, sugarcane, and light floral notes. Flavor: The rum barrel aging lowers the whisky hit ("fingernail polish remover" as my wife would say) and adds a touch of sweetness that's not overpowering. A quick initial taste of apple. A dash of water brings out the hint of vanilla for me. I like rum and drink a variety but I can't necessarily taste the "rum" here. However, I admit my taste bud population per square inch is on the lower end of the bell curve : -( Spicy/alcohol after-burn, especially if "savored" for too long. Tends to taste better after a few sips have gone down (due to numbed taste buds?). Tasting based on neat sipping.81.95 USD per Bottle

Aroma: Roasted ham, salt air, peat smoke, apple, and pear. Flavor: Peat smoke in salty ocean air, mild white pepper, & some pear. Taking a quicksip & swallowing, so it simply splashes over the tongue, has an almost caramel after-taste. Have to admit this reminds me of Laphroaig with the smokey peat flavor. Kula Toasted Coconut Rum
Flavored Rum — Maui, USA
Reviewed October 24, 2021 (edited December 9, 2023)Aroma: Coconut, obviously, along with slight vanilla and toasted marshmallow -- yum! Flavor: Basically the same as the smell -- coconut, vanilla, & toasted marshmallow. Comparison to Malibu rum: Think of Malibu as watered-down Kula, like what you drank in college versus what you drink a few years after graduating. Malibu has more of a syrupy sweetness (but a watery mouth feel), mild flavor, no hint of marshmallow, and 14% less alcohol by volume! Drinking them side-by-side the Malibu has less impact on the senses. The toasted marshmallow of Kula is so obvious after a sip of Malibu. Kula is a bit on the sweet side for sipping, honestly, but fine when the missus needs a shot after a long day without the fuss of a mixed drink. However, it works well for mixed drinks. Rating based on neat sipping AND compared to Malibu rum (since this is meant more for mixing than sipping.21.99 USD per Bottle -
