W.B. Saffell Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 24, 2020 (edited September 21, 2020)This is what Kentucky spirit should be. This is classic turkey turned up to eleven. Not quite as pushy as rare breed but has more flavor. While it’s not game changing whiskey this is what I wish wild turkey had in there portfolio on a regular basis. Similar to Russell’s reserve single barrel if you happen to get a good one. -
Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 7, 2020 (edited February 18, 2021)It’s everything I want in a bourbon. It’s high proof and full of flavor. Best part is you can actually walk into a store and buy it. Crazy right -
Glenfarclas 21 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 23, 2020 (edited February 3, 2021)Rich nose. Honey and apple slices. Creamy mouthfeel with spice and a bit more honey. Finish is long with lingering baking spice. A damn fine dram. Cheers -
I was excited to taste this one based on reviews. Very light color. Nose shows vanilla wafers but not much else to me. Very creamy mouthfeel. Can really pick up the bourbon barrel finish as spice starts to come through toward the finish. Pepper and baking spices stick a round for a bit at the end. Overall good but not great in my opinion. Cheers
