Wild Turkey Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 22, 2019 (edited March 30, 2019)My first bourbon since younger times with JD & coke. L: Deep gold color with pale amber hues. Medium crest with large diffuse legs falling quite fast. N: Vanilla, cream corn, cinnamon, rye bread, baking spices, overripe apples & pears, cooked white peaches. Faint vegetal notes reminiscent of Oolong tea & grass. M: Full bodied, light sweetness, oily with soft tannins, a light tartness & a mellow burn. Similar flavors although bolder & fruitier. O: Great first impression with this bourbon. I love the rye notes I pick up in this & the fact that the vanilla is not overwhelming.33.0 CAD per Bottle -
Ron Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva Rum
Aged Rum — Venezuela
Reviewed March 22, 2019 (edited October 6, 2019)L: Deep amber verging on copper color. Fine crest with plenty of large drops falling slowly. N: Candied orange peel, macchiato, raisins, rich caramelized honey, brown sugar, dried bananas, dried apricots, slightly charred pineapple, vanilla, marzipan. Some baking spices show up with cinnamon, cardamom & cloves. M: Full body, very sweet, slight burn but never aggressive, fine tannins & mild tartness. Pretty similar flavors as the nose but there is a deeper caramel & honey profile. F: Long & lingering on ripe tropical fruits dipped in a hot caramel sauce with orange & lime zested on top. O: I love this rum although I admit having a sweet tooth. I'm all in for unadulterated rum with no sugar added, but this one is a dessert on its own.58.75 USD per Bottle -
L: Brilliant deep copper with golden hues. Thin crest with fat slow drops. N: Smoked maple wood, caramelized oranges, muddled green bananas, dust, grassy with some vegetal notes. Brown sugar, cardamom, cloves & cinnamon coming from the oak. M: Light sweetness, faint tartness, cooked stone fruits & sautéed bananas with brown sugar syrup. Elegant rich smokiness with mapley aromas. Grassy with trace of woody baking spices. Oily body with fine velvety tannins. F: Woody, smoky & caramelized tropical fruits. O: A bit more refined than the Gran Reserva. Does OK as a sipper & makes good spirit-forward cocktails such as Rum Old Fashioned.39.0 CAD per Bottle

L: Nice amber hue with some medium legs falling slowly from a thin crest. N: Smoky, peat, faint maple & vanilla, apple compote, overripe peaches. Mingling oak, old leather & tobacco. M: Peat, cooked apples, smoke, hint of pears & dried fruits. A nice sea breeze comes forward. The leather takes over the tobacco & oak with some faint baking spices & a hint of maple smoked ham. There is a light sweetness to it as well as a nice full body & brings a nice heat with 43%. It ends on some peat, smoked meat & dried fruits and lingers for a while. O: Such a nice peated scotch. It has an incredible intensity, yet is quite complex. A must have sipper. Peaty, fruity & full.12025.0 CAD per Bottle

L: Clear, fine crest where multiple medium drops fall at a slow pace. N: Neutral, mild sweet ethanol note, soft toasted white bread, whisper of floral notes. Subtle flavors but not bland. M: Sweet ethanol, subtle grain chaff, subtle berry flavor such as blueberries and field strawberries, again very neutral. The body has a nice texture and is a bit oily with a soft astringency, there is also a nice sweetness, a pleasant heat & a light bitterness. No off-flavors. F: Lingering heat with berries taking more place leaving a sort of berry flavored water. In summary: sweet, neutral, grainy & fruity. Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed January 15, 2019 (edited February 28, 2019)Pretty rich aromas of milk chocolate, hint of cappuccino, faint paint/acetone notes, nice caramel backbone. There's a slight earthy hop flavor. Has a bit of a burn, pleasantly sweet, astringent & a little sour. The body is quite light with an oily texture. Not as roasty as I thought it would be. Maybe the version with 8 degrees will be more flavorful. -
