Tastes

Irish whiskey aged in American oak barrels. Old gold colour. Surprisingly smooth and quaffable, with noticeable and even dominant note of mashed sea buckthorn berries. Decent stuff.

Pale straw colour. Nice Island whisky with some fruit, creosote and asphalt. The taste is a bit harsh but it brings a robust and long aftertaste. Peatiness is moderate. Good stuff overall.

Batch OL0314. Amazing stuff. Maize corn colour in the glass. Despite the high alcohol it has the softest taste. Fruit and flowers, specifically camomile. Needs a splash of water to present all the power of taste and aroma.

Batch FF0714. Interesting stuff. First fill American Oak. Yellow gold colour. Powerful and vivid with notes of carpentry, ichtyol and medicine. Alcohol is well pronounced. Needs a drop of water and some time to breathe.

Pale gold colour. Quite vivid and intensive taste with fruity tang. Honey on the nose. Balanced overall. Decent commercial single malt.

N:19 P:17 F:17 B:17. Spirits' age 3 - 8 years. Traditional oak and American first fill. Pale gold colour. Simple, quaffable. With notes of fruits and distinctive orange. Also some fancy varnish aromas. The finish is smooth and fruity. Nothing special but decent everyday option.

Nose: 18 Palate: 14 Finish: 17 Balance: 16 Produced by a French company Slauer specialty for supermarkets. Maize corn colour. Peat flavours are less than moderate. Harsh taste and unpleasant bitterness on the finish. No go but at least it is cheap.

The colour of white wine. Peaty and smokey. Extremely harsh alcoholic taste, burns your palate like fire. A little water helps but doesn't make this whiskey totally friendly. However, it's rich and manly.

Amber colour. Smooth and sweet but lacks depth and complexity. Will be a good sipper but nothing to brood over. Had it at a tasting in Drinx, Moscow. The regular price for it was around 27 euro, the sale price - around 20.50 euro.

Deep copper colour. Dizzying aromas of peat, smoke and white fruit in the background. Rich taste of honey, nuts, apple syrup and white fruit. All this is intermingled in a complex picture. Despite the high alcohol it is very delicate on the palate, but a teaspoonful of water won't hurt. Very good Islay.
