Didn’t love the over powering sweet fruit notes on the nose but it taste like a typical speyside I like with a mild sherry finish. I’m not the biggest fan, but a very drinkable scotch.

The musky smoke and sweet molasses was strong. And rich body, the fruitiness with the bite was delicious. Didn’t feel the 62.4% cask strength too much. Goes down without too much trouble. But after 3 pours you feel the strength in your face. I liked it a lot more the 2nd time I tried it. The musky smoke is heavy on the nose so enjoy a mint after the dram if you are going to kiss a dame.

I like the nose on this more than the taste. The new oak and spicy notes are dominant. It had more of a rye flavor profile than in a typical bourbon.

Spice is very strong. Very enjoyable and easy to consume. This is my first rye, so I don’t have anything else to compare it against. I enjoyed the spicy whisky.

Quite the departure from the regular Jameson. The creamy notes reminded me a bit of coffee creamer. Spice is subdued. The sweet vanilla & butterscotch flavors are strong. Bottle says it has chocolate notes, but I had hard time finding them. Nevertheless it is a very tasty whisky and so easy to drink. Ice and water did flatten the flavor so go for that neat pour. Stout cask is the way to go. It didn’t takes two of us more than 4 hours to finish the whole bottle. Looking forward to try out rest of the editions in the caskmates series.

Didn’t like this one. But I do question the integrity of bottle I tried. It’s been open, 1/4th full and still on the shelf for almost 2 years.

I ordered this at a restaurant and it definitely lived up to the Islay fame. The lingering smoke & malty sweetness was amazing with the Vietnamese pork chop. I need to buy a bottle and taste it without a tasty meal to see how this really holds up to my other Islay favorites.

It is very drinkable. I couldn’t really set it apart from the 15 though. That was the only disappointment. Taste and smell like a typical speyside. Sweet, fruity and vanilla dominant. I enjoyed it but I would never purchase a bottle for my collection.

This is a beautiful scotch. Love the peat on the nose. Even though it’s not heavy peated, the herbal and oily notes make this smoky whiskey delicious. However those notes don’t overpower the sweet malt and brine. IMO well balanced. And even with the higher proof this is very easy to consume. There is a pleasant bite to it too. I really enjoyed finishing this bottle over one weekend.

Highland park 12 is classic. Thanks to mildly peated scotch other scents and flavors get to open up and make the scotch very enjoyable
