Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed June 3, 2021Sherry is strong and beautiful. The honey maltiness comes with a bit of tangy flavor too. It got a rich body too. However I still prefer the original and port cask over the sherry cask finish on Glenmorangie. Plus over 50 bucks is a slight pricey.54.99 USD per BottleLas Vegas -
I was already into 6 other whiskeys and 1 cognac when I tried this. Still this held up to the rest of them. The higher proof helped the flavor profile with that strong bite. The caramel butterscotch sweetness is dominating. Almost plum like fruitiness too probably from the port cask finish. This was lovely. P.S. Had a sample bottle so not sure what’s the price is.Las Vegas

This was my favorite whiskey of the night. We’ve tried 7 different scotches from speyside and highlands, and most of my friends agreed that Jura stood out because of its complexity. Each time I went to the glass I start smelling and tasting different notes. First it was the funky sweetness and honey. Then second time this beautiful citrusy, almost red apple like fruitiness and the brine. Then the 3rd time the dark chocolate & walnut with ash. At 80 proof this surprisingly packs a lot of flavors. Each sip was a different experience. Great for a daily drinker. It goes down very smoothly. This will be one of my go to scotches from now on.45.99 USD per BottleLas Vegas

For an 80 proof this has a surprisingly beautiful creaminess. With peach and honey in the forefront it also delivers a slight spiciness and lemon like subtle citrus not that is quite beautiful. Not too complex but a big step up compared to other speysides on the same price range. Can’t wait to compare it with the 12 year bottle.41.49 USD per BottleLas Vegas

GlenDronach Revival 15 Year (2009-2015)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed June 2, 2021 (edited June 25, 2021)This was beautiful. It’s all sherry in the beginning. Once you pass the sherry, honey sweet musty flavors are well balanced and there’s a lot of bite to it for a 92 proof. A good lingering finish with a slight bitterness too. Enjoyed it very much.64.99 USD per BottleLas Vegas -
This is a classic old fashioned with High West’s straight rye & straight bourbon. It’s delicious. I’m usually not a cocktail guy, but I was curious to check out the bottle since the price point was reasonable. It totally blew my expectations out of the water. With a lemon and orange twist garnish this old fashioned tasted better than any other old fashioned I’ve ever had. High West products are always impressive. I am going to let my friends mooch from this coming weekend and will update this with their feedback too. Correction: they used Used Rye Barrels45.99 USD per BottleLas Vegas

It’s not one of my favorites. I’m not the biggest fan of blended whiskey in general. On top of that this has a metallic plus bitter finish I’m not the biggest fan of either. Also the strong musty floral nose with the ethanol smell kind of took me by surprise on my first dram, and I didn’t like it at all. But once I let it settled in the malty sweetness and a medicinal herbal note made it more pleasant to consume. I need to explore it more with ice and maybe adding a little bit of water next time. Still not giving up hope on Japanese whisky. P.S. after a long break I’ve tried the Hibiki again and I found it to be very pleasant, specially on the nose. The floral and caramel notes are lovely. Also this sweet fresh citrusy note is hidden in the back I really loved. It still doesn’t deliver on the palate. Light body, and flat almost lightly sweeten water like texture doesn’t help my enjoyment. I’d rather nose this whisky than drink it.79.99 USD per BottleLas Vegas
