An interesting and vibrant pour. Notably "different" from most bourbons I've tried. Strong nose and flavor of both mint and cherries. No ethanol on the nose, just pure cherry. Moderately spicy with nutmeg and a splash of iodine. Definitely woody but not a traditional oak profile. Will enjoy the bottle, need to try a few side by side to decide if "different" means "better".40.0 USD per Bottle

Fantastic. I love this offering, and the notes added by the port cask finish really transform an already top quality rum into an experience. Incredibly smooth. Sweet and rich, but Foursquare doesn't add sugar. One can taste the ripe, deep fruit flavors without anything seeming raisiny.58.0 USD per Bottle

Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 1
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 23, 2018 (edited September 11, 2018)126.4. First neat, then a splash of water. Pleasant nose that surprisingly doesn't singe the nostrils. A clean, dominant scent that I can't place - a cousin to mint? First sips were sweet but oaky, and the only heat was on the finish. As the sips add up, the spice migrates from the throat to the mouth. Cherry, vanilla, licorice, root beer. Oak and char are consistent and prominent. Mint. Still trying to figure this one out. I like it, quite a bit, but it is different than most bourbons. Definitely not as refined and smooth as Stagg Sr. Like a 5.0 mustang instead of the AMG Benz. Lots of fun to drive, but all raw power and a bit unrefined.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Knob Creek 9 Year Single Barrel Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 5, 2018 (edited September 22, 2018)Nondescript, creamy nose with a touch of mint and perhaps a hint of maple syrup and milk chocolate. Deep ochre color. (Neat) Rich, full, and with spice throughout. Oily, sweet maple syrup with bold orange flavors. Dark chocolate. Viscous. Really wonderful and impressive stuff. The start to finish spice from the proof will make you consider watering down, but do not hide these flavors. An affordable ($42) treat.42.0 USD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 5, 2018 (edited September 11, 2018)Sweet and creamy nose. Light butterscotch hints. (Neat) Across the tongue is just sweet sweet toffee and vanilla, until you pull it to the back of the mouth then a huge flash of minty menthol. Lingering spice, but more nasal than cheek burn. After, some banana lingering with the iodine after-effects of the heat flash. Good, but a little mint-centric versus other flavor profiles that I prefer. Excellent value for the money, however ($40), and the longer I sip after the palate has adjusted the more sweet brown sugar I taste, with less spice. It's good, folks.40.0 USD per Bottle -

Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 2, 2018 (edited January 2, 2022)Really spectacular bourbon. Big and indulgent. So much going on here it isn't fair to lesser whiskeys. Sweet vanilla caramel layered with oak, spice, and a creamy richness. Subtle cherries, orange rind and a hint of chocolate. Wonderful neat, probably best with a few drops of water to open it up. I don't plan to let my bar be without a bottle, despite the $60 pricetag. Succinctly: a flavor rocket.60.0 USD per Bottle
