Old Forester Mint Julep
Flavored Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 11, 2018 (edited November 26, 2018)Not bad, depending on the dilution level the mint flavor can taste pretty medicinal and synthetic. Hard to complain for clearance prices though.10.0 USD per Bottle -
Angel's Envy Rye Finished in Caribbean Rum Casks
Rye — USA
Reviewed September 11, 2018 (edited November 10, 2019)Wow. Creamy sweet honeysuckle nose with a hint of graham cracker and herbal note to betray its rye. Butter toffee on the palate and oh so silky smooth. A totally unique, delicious dessert that drinks waay below it’s 100 proof and only subtle hints as to the spice of its 95% rye mash. Cinnamon Toast Crunch until the gentle herbal finish that suggest curry powder (don’t worry, it works). This will be disappointing to purists but is extremely well crafted and a totally enjoyable break from the norm. Love it as an option on the shelf. A little overpriced to be potentially confused as a digestivo but I’d buy it again.74.0 USD per Bottle -
Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 11, 2018 (edited February 3, 2019)3.6/5.0 Mild, corn syrup nose with minty notes. On the palate are cherry notes - strong, but not cloying - balanced with orange rind, apple, complex baking spices like allspice and nutmeg, black pepper, and the mint notes return. Thin body with a slight oily feel. Lingering cinnamon finish with medicinal rye notes on the tongue. No flaws and some pleasant but less common flavors - nice for the price. Only knock is it isn’t the traditional palate for a bourbon and not much nose.26.0 USD per Bottle -
Tequila Ocho Añejo "La Latilla" 2015
Tequila Añejo — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed September 8, 2018Surprisingly crystal clear anejo. Had heard great things about Ocho and had to try. Fresh, vegetal and grassy. Clearly well made and sippable, but seemingly picked up very little from the barrel. It grew on me and smoothed out significantly over the course of the neat pour, but I’m not sure I’d go back to it vs comparable cost tequilas.9.0 USD per Shot -
4.0/5.0. Hard to tell much if any difference from the old NAS or current 4-yr, enough to knock it down a star (4 vs 5) for the extra price without much extra to show for it. Still very good rye with prominent red hot cinnamon spice and a hint of gentian bitters and a gently pleasant licorice. Classic minty-herbal rye notes.

High West Double Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2018 (edited February 3, 2019)3.3/5.0 - 2nd generation (house distillate plus MGP. No 16-yr). Mint, lemon zest and a hint of soap on the nose. Gentle with the barest hint of alcohol. The taste is very light and vegetal. Herbs. Characteristic rye cinnamon but the barley is easily identified. Relatively thin - watery mouthfeel. Finish is gentle but long, mostly a pleasant cinnamon across the tongue. Tastes young but not harsh. Well made and fair at msrp ($30); a value for less (seen as low as $26). A unique flavor that stands out from the pack.26.0 USD per Bottle
