Tastes

Quite nice. Very rich and rounded. Balanced. Has a flavor profile that gives the impression of port cask finish.

This one is wild. Predominantly iodine, sweet liquid, and peat smoke after the swallow. Really interesting and enjoyable, but not a balanced flavor.

Honeyed note, as expected. The proof acts as a balance, warming throughout the palate. Strong vanilla flavor, with some neutral vegetal aspects. Salty. Splenda sweet instead of sugar. Not rough, but seemingly potent proofing that does not leave, even minutes later. Astringent, but otherwise smooth. Revisited. Just can't get into this one that much. Very flat and vegetal and too "hot" considering other offerings at barrel proof. Kinda tastes like freshly stripped bamboo and hay mixed with what I imagine to be a pencil - bland wood + graphite. Not sure what that means. Dropping rating to 2 stars. Not for me.

Really, really balanced spicy whiskey. Oak and cinnamon, vanilla, bitter cocoa, and a rich but clean finish; not oily. Really complex and enjoyable.

Very smooth, but not surprising for a Canadian. Somewhat medicinal - vanilla extract and maple syrup. Nothing harsh or distracting, but not an intriguing taste.

Really enjoyable. Making the review from memory, but relatively mild and easy drinking. Not too adventurous, but balanced. Need to drink again with a focus on tasting notes.

Quite enjoyable. Didn't think it was as spicy or complex as the critic's review, but I'll be looking forward to my next pour. Re-tasted: gentle, sweet, and easy. Very approachable, well made, but not challenging.

Light and sweet. Only gentle vanilla toffee on the front end, then slowly warms with a spicy finish and lingering tannin.

Actually really enjoyable. Only hot due to the proof. Somewhat sweet. Oily and spicy. Oak and toffee. Rough around the edges but it can’t be beat for the price.
