Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Batch Proof 125.8
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 19, 2019 (edited May 8, 2020)Neat. Definitely Woodford turned up to 11 Spinal Tap style. Same notes I get from Woodford on the nose. Vanilla, toasted marshmallow, oak, and some nutty spice. Texture is very thick like syrup. Starts as dark cherries and those toasted marshmallows transitions to caramel with long vanilla and floral legs. Does leave a dry mouth feel. Top of my mouth is numb after. Compared to my Woodford store pick, the Batch Proof is noticeably thicker in texture with a lot more emphasis on those darker flavor notes. Less nutty on the taste too. Otherwise it’s almost the same in most of its characteristics. It’s fun to have an amped up version of an old classic. -
Neat. Butterscotch is strong on the nose. Behind the sweetness, I get some high floral notes. Cinnamon and spice are hiding but become more apparent after it opens up. Nice, thick mouthfeel with almost a grainy sugary syrup feel. Chocolate and spice dominate the taste but a few waves of vanilla appear throughout. Legs are delicious. Brings me back to that Butterscotch just sitting on tongue for a very long time. It’s very good but doesn’t blow me away at the price.

Neat. Beautiful color. Amazing nose. So balanced it’s hard to pick out all the pieces. Vanilla, spice, cherry, chocolates, nutty. Butterscotch. Lots of wood. It just hits all the notes to the point of confusion. Super creamy mouth feel with sugar and cherry on the palate. So smooth on the taste. Tons of vanilla and cherry again. This is near perfect.

Little Book Chapter 2: Noe Simple Task
Other Whiskey — Multiple Countries
Reviewed March 17, 2019 (edited August 28, 2019)Neat. Nose is more subtle than I was expecting. Lots of vanilla with some high citrus notes behind it. I understand the pound cake comparison in the official review. Syrupy consistency. Initial reaction on taste was surprise and confusion. Going in again, I notice more dark notes on the nose like cinnamon so it’s evolving. Initial palate is light sugar and vanilla. It’s odd. When you first swallow it’s almost tasteless about then explodes. Like a sonic boom has that silence before the noise catches up to you. Once it pops, it pops for waves and for a long time. Mostly those high notes from the nose with the vanilla and citrus. Little spice from the rye and cinnamon poke their head in to say hello. This is the longest tasting note I have ever written. This one is interesting. It’s good, solid, not blowing me away with the flavors. But it is blowing me away with its uniqueness. One to revisit for sure. -

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2018-04 "Kitchen Table"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 15, 2019 (edited April 10, 2019)Neat. Butter and corn all over the initial nose. Floral comes through on subsequent noses. Lots of high sweet notes like vanilla. Thick, syrupy feel. Char and sugar on the initial palate and then wham. So many flavors and waves and it lingers. Damn. Cherries. Vanilla. Clove. Cinnamon. Back and forth with high and dark notes. Just delicious. -

Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon (NAS)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 14, 2019 (edited March 17, 2019)Neat. Complex nose. Few layers of corn, vanilla, cherries, and something high note like a citrus. Average thickness, char and sugar hit the palate immediately. Char and sugar again on the taste. Vanilla on the legs. Cherries present themselves on later sips. Very enjoyable.
