Tastes

Neat. Alcohol comes through strong on the nose but a lot of flavor too. Maple, berries and cream, vanilla, orange, char. Very creamy mouth feel with immediate chocolate and spice on the tongue. Sugary residue. Orange, vanilla, nutmeg. Lots going on here at every sense. Does have a strong burn from that alcohol. Probably the only aspect keeping it from a five for me.

Neat. Party Source store pick. Nose is a lot closer to Double Oak than I was expecting. This store pick seems way different than base Woodford. Vanilla, oak, corn with a hint of citrus on the nose. Mostly dark notes. Mouth feel is average. More watery than creamy. Palate is a subtle high note. Can’t quite place it. Taste is vanilla, char, oak with some sugary sweetness on the legs. Continue to like the nose more than anything else on Woodford.

Neat. The Party Source store pick. Noticeably better than my generic single barrel. Floral, chocolate, vanilla, honey on the nose. Hits high, low, and mid range notes. Nice silky smooth texture. Sugar and char, vanilla hit the palate immediately. Cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla, and fruit comes in waves with amazing legs. I adore this bottle. I’m buying another immediately.

Neat. Nose has much darker notes than traditional. Chocolate, herbs, and spices. Creamy feel, peppery in taste. Heat gives way to brighter notes. Vanilla and floral. Nice legs. I like it more than the regular bottle but also less than I hoped. I’d try a Private Select over this.

Neat. Corn and vanilla on the nose. Deep breath brings in a subtle floral note. A think consistency but not really creamy. Vanilla. Spice. Little heat. Just solid and basic.

Neat. Lots of vanilla, cinnamon, buttered popcorn on the nose. Sugar and pepper on palate. Waves of vanilla and spices. Just a really solid bourbon. Probably the best 4 year in my collection.

Neat. Nose is typical rye. Hints of honey. Smooth mouth feel with sugar on the palate. Rye spice rushes through on the taste, but subsided to a blend of honey, cinnamon, and vanilla. Fantastic rye.

Neat. Lots of depth on this nose. Lots of vanilla, floral flavors. Peppermint. Nice creamy mouth feel. Wow. Caught me by surprise. Unique as hell. Honey up front. Creme brûlée? Pepper and mint again. This is amazing stuff.

Neat. Very good! Nose is typically rye but has some nice sugar and floral notes turned up. Silky smooth mouth feel. Burst of vanilla on the palate. Followed up by pepper and chocolate. Little to no black licorice note (thank god.). Amazing rye. Legs last a long time.

Neat. Nose is fruity and floral with a lot of oak forward. Hint of vanilla. Thinker texture than I was expecting. Sugar on the palate gives way to spice very quickly. Savory taste, very very nice. Cinnamon. Chocolate. Comes in hot. Great lingering aftertaste. Love it!
