Barrell Bourbon Batch 016
Bourbon — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 20, 2019 (edited July 20, 2020)Neat. Nose is light. Corn, caramel, a hint of something floral and maybe raisins or dark cherries. Medium bodied. Initial taste is cinnamon and sugar on the tongue. Rye hits the back of the throat and gives way to sweet cereal and dark chocolates. Hint of mint at the end and on the breath. It grew on me with every sip. Enjoyable but not a treat. -
Parker's Heritage Barrel Finished in Orange Curaçao Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2019Neat. Really fun taste. Nose presents itself with classic flavors. Lot of fruits in the background. Nice creamy mouth. Orange is there on the long legs. It’s interesting how the orange waits to announce itself until the end. -
Old Fitzgerald 9 Year Bottled in Bond (Fall 2018)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2019Neat. The coconut is there and that is interesting. Vanilla, almost a Belgian waffle in the nose. Such a nice creamy mouth. Vanilla ice cream on the taste and a pastry fluffiness lingers. Eventually gives way to a slight spice, cinnamon. Quite a treat. -
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon

Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 1
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2019 (edited May 27, 2019)Neat. Very impressive. Vanilla and citrus on the nose. Mostly light notes on the nose with a hint of chocolate in the background. The high proof doesn’t present itself as expected. Nice creamy mouth feel that hits you with a wave of sugar initially. Gives way to darker notes like chocolate and cherries. Impressed. -
Neat. Spent some time with the nose. Lots of vanilla and butterscotch up front. Every now and then I’d get hints of peanuts or floral. Nice creamy feel. A few waves of flavors. Vanilla and butterscotch hit the initial taste. Gives way to cracked pepper and a surprising spice. Cinnamon on the tail end of the long legs. Maybe a hint of mint. I went into this expecting over hype but now I know why I can’t find this stuff often.

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 15, 2019 (edited April 11, 2019)Neat. Classic vanilla nose. Mouth feel on the watery side than expected. Small Batch is typically creamier. Taste is spice and cinnamon forward but gives way to strong vanilla. Vanilla has long legs. Can’t wait to compare to the small batch later. -
Neat. Not what I was expecting from a Buffalo Trace. Nose is caramel forward with fruits and floral favors in the back. Texture is creamy nice. The taste is fruit forward. Never described a bourbon like that and it is not like other Mash #1 bourbons. It’s really good but I need to unpack it more on future tastings.
