Appleton Estate 12 Year Rare Casks
Aged Rum — Jamaica
Reviewed February 5, 2022 (edited July 9, 2023)The first scent screams of quality rum. Good clean smells of oak and rich vanilla. First sip you get a mouth full of alcohol, oily notes allspice, clove, light cinnamon and hazelnut. The heat is brief but very good, wish it was longer. If you let the flavors dance around a bit you can catch all of the nuances. The heat lingers nicely after finishing. Very good rum with bourbon flare. -
Stellum Bourbon
Bourbon — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 11, 2021 (edited January 4, 2022)This blended bourbon has the smoke and heat of a Rye. Love the amount of heat, very spicy with cooling mint finish. Oily with lots of clove, oak and toasty fireplace. I would buy this for the balance of heat and fruit flavors. -
Balcones Texas Single Malt
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed December 8, 2021 (edited December 7, 2022)I've waited a long time to get my hands on this whiskey. In the first pour a deep rich golden body with a hue of orange. Very sweet smell of oranges, butter, caramel, and fruity. First sip confirms the sweetness taste of lemon but not bitter. Jammy, with more sweet citrus and a soft touch of heat and sweet corn. Good long subtle finish that reminds me more of a Scotch. Not disappointed and will come back because it's interesting. -
Limavady Single Barrel Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed December 4, 2021 (edited December 7, 2022)The sherry really comes through during first scent. Sweet, fruity smells of licorice, caramel, banana, strawberry. Strong heat on first sip, with cola menthol taste that lingers. Although the heat lingers longer than the taste. Solid bourbon that I would pay $30+ for. Taste like Port and Bourbon had a baby. -
Frey Ranch Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Nevada, USA
Reviewed November 30, 2021 (edited December 7, 2022)Light buttery, spicy vanilla notes. Fruity taste of red fruit, plum and late kick of baking spices and heat. With cooling oak and medicinal finish. Good sipper to share with friends or family. -
Taste of honey sweet nose with a tinge of cinnamon spice. The very first taste is sweet with sherry, then it follows with orange flavors at the top of your palate followed by bitter smoke, the oak is in the aftertaste with more bitterness. The finish lingers but it's not a good finish. I would not buy this for its $86 price tag. Feels more like a bottle in the high $20 vicinity.

Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye
Rye — Virginia , USA
Reviewed November 20, 2021 (edited December 25, 2021)The scent of cinnamon is heavy followed by vanilla. Good heat for a rye. Black pepper, caramel and fruity oddly enough. Solid Rye with a super long cinnamon finish
