I'm a lover of Lagavulin. Despite 16 holding the crown, the 8 delivers a uniqueness that holds its own. Clear yellow gold hue with lengthy scents of smoke, peat, jammy apricot, fragrant citrus, butter and a tinge of heat. The smooth taste of peat comes off balanced, woody, menthol. Taste of butter trailing menthol, minty, tarragon. Great finish that exudes quality. If you want a variation of 16 with vibrancy and an assortment of flavors, grab this bottle. Peat lovers this is for you.

St Patrick's Day month, so I have to experiment with different Irish whiskeys. So, I randomly grabbed this bottle. Semi sweet scent that begins with butter and a mixture of clove and fruit. I smell scents of apple, banana and soft peach. The sweetness carries into the taste with a mouthful of marmalade. Strong hit of alcohol that overpowers the smoke and light heat. I think it would be better if used as a mixer or if aged longer.

George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed December 9, 2022 (edited January 19, 2023)Finally, I got around to the famed Remus. The nose gives off char and light smoke. The white oak really comes through. Scents of caramel dominate your senses matched with sweet vanilla and baking spices in your typical bourbon notes. Smooth taste but no complexity. Slight heat that lingers with caramel. Solid
