George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed December 9, 2022 (edited January 19, 2023)Finally, I got around to the famed Remus. The nose gives off char and light smoke. The white oak really comes through. Scents of caramel dominate your senses matched with sweet vanilla and baking spices in your typical bourbon notes. Smooth taste but no complexity. Slight heat that lingers with caramel. Solid -
Rye and cinnamon are the stars of the bottle. Sweet and fruity scents mixed with Rye, banana, buttery toast, light smoke and powdered cinnamon. The taste hits you with spicy cinnamon but not in the way Fireball attemps. The heat is strong but what you expect in a Rye. The medium finish is good but if it was longer the rating would be higher. Steal at its price point and good sipper to enjoy with friends and family that appreciate whiskey especially a good Rye.

Bottle full of smoke. The scent of smoke, sweetness and the greatest cereal ever made "Waffle Crisp," slight hint of orange peel and rich maple. The taste is strong with peat, spicy peppercorn, menthol and heavy oak. At 4 years, quite tasty with long finish and lengthy heat. Would be interested in other bottles to see differences.

Unique profile that draws me in more with each sip. Rum scents of peach, jackfruit, dates, banana and baking spices, light mint followed with sweet caramel. With the taste you the familiar Rye goodness with a mouthful of leather, spiced apple, jam, smoky peat but medium heat that slowly fade. Really enjoyed this but best for whiskey fans intrigued by uniqueness
