For a high proof there isn’t the expected ethanol on the nose. Vanilla and charred apple on the nose initially. Black pepper at first on first sip and surprisingly not a high proof burn. This is a bit tannic and has a leather and charred oak finish. Ice cube softens the peppery feel at the initial sip but increases the charred oak on the finish. Pretty good overall with lots of intense flavors.

Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 29, 2022 (edited December 3, 2022)Sweet on the nose with heavy notes of vanilla and light cherry. First sip is slightly bitter but char and oak come through. Ice doesn’t add much. Glad I tied this. Not my favorite but worth the try. -
Sweet on the nose with notes of floral, citrus, and hints of raisins. First sip has a slow moderate burn with continued notes of floral. Not terribly complex but still good. Cody Road has several different options, this is my first taste, and whereas this isn’t too complex it does give enough interest I am wanting to try a different offering.

Full flavors on the nose. Chocolate, caramel, toasted nuts and grains. Full bodied and full mouth experience on first sip. Slow burn builds as it goes down with notes of char, vanilla, and continued caramel. This is great neat and if you add a cube of ice it softens the burn and pulls out more of the vanilla and toasted nuts. Highly recommended.

Broken Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 9, 2022 (edited October 11, 2022)On the nose heavy vanilla notes with underlying oak and woody staves coming through. First sip has a quick flash of oak and black pepper then followed by leather finish and really nice linger and burn as it goes down. For a higher proof this one is good neat. Dark chocolate is pulled close to the top of the profile from the depths of this one with a cube of ice. Ice severely softens the pepper burn and turns this one into a dangerous one. Good for sipping any way you like it!
