Hirsch The Horizon Straight Bourbon (Batch AAH0320)
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed August 27, 2022 (edited December 12, 2023)Soft and sweet in the nose. Floral notes and smooth vanilla notes on the nose. Good amount of leather and char on first sip. Ice really pulls out leather and black pepper spice. I really like this one and it’s not expensive. It’s decently complex and enjoyable. If you can find it I highly recommend it. -
Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey (Sourced Whiskey)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed August 27, 2022Sweet apple and vanilla on the nose. Fruit and leather on first sip. Ice pulls more of the fruit out and softens the finish. Not the most in depth for taste. It’s not bad. -
Ethanol on nose at first. Takes a minute to settle down and burn off. Once this sits there is a good amount of vanilla and caramel with hints of oak on the nose. First sip is smooth with a good after bite of black pepper and a leathery char. Ice calms peppery burn and makes this a dangerous offering with a higher proof. There is a long late burn but adds to the intensity and interest. I recommend this one!

Citrus and perfume on the nose with subtle note of chocolate. Decently heavy burn and linger adds to the full flavor. Chocolate gets the full treatment in the first sip with black pepper rounding out the experience. I like this one over other Hochatown products. Ice softens burn and linger and makes this more enjoyable and more likely to be an evening sipper.

Woodinville Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Washington, USA
Reviewed July 23, 2022 (edited August 5, 2022)Good start with Honey, leather, and cherry on the nose. Smooth on first sip and not much burn or linger. Leather and tannic notes are throughout. Ice draws out a little caramel delight and oak. I like this one and would pick one up again. -
Sweet on the nose with a note of apple and vanilla. Quick burn that didn’t last at the back of the throat. Oats and leather are present throughout. Cube of ice softens the burn and surprisingly lengthened the linger. Slight vanilla on finish. I really like this one with and without ice. Highly recommend.

Ethanol heavy at first with oak and hints of fruit. Oak and leather are the most prevalent in first sip. Decent burn but not overpowering. After first sip I notice a little floral on the nose after a second review. Ice severely softens the burn and pulls out some black pepper in the finish. I am able to get a light cherry note deep in the tasting and towards the end after some after added. Not bad. More complex that I anticipated. Good for a product from Las Vegas.
