Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond 11 Year (Spring 2018)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 26, 2019 (edited January 20, 2020)Nose: smooth oily sugary oak. The wheated mashbill and resemblance to Old Rip 10 comes through for me. Palate: very smooth and rich. Not much spice. A muted Old Rip 10 year or less spicy and sweeter than Old Weller Antique. Finish: no bite. Quite smooth.18.0 USD per PourOBC Kitchen -
Nose: tremendously rich sweet oak, sugary popcorn, and wheat. Like walking into a wooden warehouse with hanging tobacco, and a molasses or toffee-filled confectionary shop that’s baking away. Wow. One of the best noses in bourbon. Palate: rich and oily, and while the palate is underwhelming compared to the amazing nose, light spices and butterscotch come through Finish: only a slight bite considering the 55% abv on this bottle. Quite sweet and smooth. A supercharged Maker’s Mark that is now one of my favorite bourbons.Liquor Barn

Hancock's President's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 25, 2019Liquor Barn (KY) store pick (2018) Nose: similar to Blanton’s as it shares the same mash bill at Buffalo Trace. A little more toasted oak up front though. Sort of like a blend of Blanton’s and McKenna 10 from Heaven Hill because of some toasted nutty notes. Vanilla is there as well. Palate: more spicy vanilla and slight butterscotch. Sweeter than Blanton’s but considering the 15% rye in the mash it’s not that spicy at all. Finish: short and sweet. Not much bite. Kind of a muted, sweeter Blanton’s/ETL. Will have to come back to it. Doesn’t rise to that level though as Blanton’s is a four-star pour for me.54.99 USD per BottleLiquor Barn -
Nose: slight nuttiness, coconut, vanilla, quite sweet aside from that HH peanut thing Palate: vanilla, sweet oak, almost a tea flavor, spice in the background, quite rich for a $10 bottle of bourbon Finish: spicy and medium, but a crispy almost cola taste at the start My favorite bottom shelf bourbon.
