Laphroaig An Cuan Mór
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 14, 2019 (edited March 1, 2021)My new favourite Laphroiag. A nose to die for - so much like Ardbeg Uigeadail. Mega punch of peat to the nose. Citrus-boiled candy on the palate with a gentle drawn out dry smokey finish. -
Bakery Hill Cask Strength Classic Single Malt
Single Malt — Victoria, Australia
Reviewed September 7, 2019 (edited September 11, 2019)Now here is the best from the distillery in Bayswater. A nose to die for - amplified rich honey-glazed sultanas and dried apricots. Continues with such an oily palate not dissimilar to Redbreast Cask Strength. Much more refined, bold intense appley pear palate than its standard strength bottling. And the finish? Long. Drawn out. Heart warming ripe banana and toffee apple finish. For a Peat-lover/non-Speyside drinker to say this... kudos to you, Bakery Hill. -
Bakery Hill Cask Strength Peated Malt
Single Malt — Victoria, Australia
Reviewed September 7, 2019 (edited September 11, 2019)Ok - so some redemption here. Wasn't a fan of the standard Peated Malt, but at a higher % alcohol some inroads have been made. Much more potent bite on the nose - much more smoked/campfire. Palate is slightly more oily with a confusion of flavours - hint of spice and smoke. A more drawn out finish than the standard. Reminds me more of an Irish Peat like Connemara.
