Nose is very sugary and vanilla at first. Then fruit and floral notes as it sits. The palette has a lot of spice and heat and feels like it is higher proof than listed on the bottle. Edit: This has been open for awhile. Coming back to it this evening the fruit is more present on the nose. On the taste the barrel is very present with some bitter and woody notes. A little hint of spice follows that becomes warmth as it finishes. Would purchase again.

Cascade Blonde American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — USA
Reviewed August 31, 2018 (edited April 24, 2019)Nothing wrong with it but nothing right either. Mostly just nothing. Slight corn nose and the palette is inoffensive but has nothing going on. Inoffensive is probably the best word to describe this dram. This seems to be engineered to be a hot weather mixer (even has a lemonade cocktail on the bottle) and if so, they nailed it. -
Whistlepig 10 Year Small Batch Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed December 1, 2017 (edited December 5, 2017)Barrel proof single barrel. Warm. Proof comes through on the long warm finish. The finish may be too long for some. Some hints of fruit of you chew it. Very well balanced. Sampling with Pikesville and Lock Stock & Barrel 13yr. Me and my buddy keep coming back to the Pig. -
Proof is noticeable on the nose also light brown sugar notes and cocoa. Palette is likewise sweet and not peppery. Some warmth on the finish. Pleasant and enjoyable. As it sat it moved from peppery to cocoa and dusty to grainy. Compared it to Lock Stock & Barrel 13, and WhistlePig 100/100 single barrel cask strength. The proofs were close. Pikesville was decidedly single noted comparatively but was able to stay in the race especially at the relative price point.

Reviewed October 7, 2017 (edited November 17, 2017)Nice aroma. The pepper of the rye is front and center. I liked it but at the price point there are ryed bourbons I like more.
