Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Series No. 3
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed October 7, 2017 (edited November 17, 2017)Way more bite than I would associate with JD. Like it even less after it has had a chance to breathe. I won't turn it down if provided to me but I will not purchase again. -
Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 7, 2017 (edited November 17, 2017)The port finish is noticeable on the palette. Tasty. -
Rebel Yell Kentucky Straight Bourbon (Discontinued)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 7, 2017 (edited November 17, 2017)Had two shooters. An odd finish that is, thankfully, quick. Maybe this would be better as a mixer? Will not purchase again. Wouldn't say no if someone else purchased. -
It has been awhile since I've had Regular Bulleit so I cannot compare reliably. More of the oak and caramels than I remember with the Regular and the rye seems less noticeable on initial taste. Very enjoyable. Large fast tails. The initial taste is barrel. The rye pepper kicks in nicely after and fades after swallowing. May not be an always-have in my cabinet but will be a has-often.

Old Grand-Dad 114 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 7, 2017 (edited November 17, 2017)Lot No 1 Pleasant on the nose though the higher proof is noticeable. Initial palette is mild but the oaks build as it sits. No real burn but a very prominent spice remains in the mouth after (again due to the higher proof?). The more I sip the more the alcohol comes through and the flavor disappears. -
This was a curiosity purchase. Not much on the pallet other than rye pepper which takes a second to kick in. There is a faint hint of barley. The rye pepper stays on the finish but fades pretty quick. The rye pepper builds as you sip. Tried with cola and with Mt. Dew. It was quite good with the Mt. Dew.

Grass Widow Bourbon
Bourbon — (bottled in) Michigan, USA
Reviewed October 7, 2017 (edited November 17, 2017)Not much on the nose but this is an open air place with a breeze going through. Good rye bite and a pleasant burn. Enjoy it but the price point is steep. -
Maker's Mark Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 7, 2017 (edited November 17, 2017)Not unpleasant but not great. May purchase again but not a must have. Will drink this neat where base Maker’s Mark is a mixer for me.
