Port Charlotte Scottish Barley
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed June 15, 2017 (edited August 2, 2017)Bold, earthy and medicinal nose from the generous amounts of peat, with the smell of dried wine skins coming through before you take your first sip. Vanilla and toffee sweetness make a surprise appearance, giving this whisky a smooth and silky mouthful. Unfortunately, the finish is very short. -
Port Charlotte Islay Barley
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed June 15, 2017 (edited September 20, 2017)This whisky greets you with a fresh burst of lemon and beeswax that is complimentary to the signature Islay peat. Honey, vanilla and oak on the palate are also nicely balanced. Gentle cinnamon spice makes an appearance at the finish. Robust yet smooth mouthful considering its 50% ABV bottling. While the finish is relatively short, it is definitely worth the 'trouble' of pouring another dram. -
Kilkerran 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed June 10, 2017 (edited November 16, 2019)Honey and light peat smoke on the nose. Touch of salt and pears on the palate. Great mouthful, with a sweet and peppery long finish. Delicious and rare gem of a dram. -
Glenglassaugh Evolution
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed June 10, 2017 (edited December 28, 2017)Lemongrass, fresh oak on the nose, and sweet orchard fruit and vanilla on the palate. Robust mouthful and impressively smooth finish at 50% ABV. Tasty stuff. -
Springbank Barolo Finish 9 Year
Single Malt — Scotland
Reviewed June 10, 2017 (edited August 2, 2017)Herbaceous, lightly peated, and brown sugar on the nose. Oily mouthful, with semi-sweet dark chocolate coming through, combining a touch of sweetness and salt to the palate. Oak tannins on the finish leaves a slight bitterness, but otherwise a work of art. -
Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed June 9, 2017 (edited November 11, 2017)Light peat smoke and honey on the nose. Some sea salt and fresh berries on the palate. Smooth and enjoyable medium-length finish... or maybe it's just my taste buds asking for more. If there's such a thing as a perfectly balanced blended malt, this is as close as it gets. -
Auchentoshan Three Wood
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed June 9, 2017 (edited February 3, 2020)Rich dried fruit and tobacco on the nose like a French brandy. Sweetness finds its way into the picture with milk chocolate and oak spice on the palate. Unfortunately, it hardly tastes of whisky to me. I appreciate the aroma, quality and craft, but it's just not what I'm looking for in a single malt. Nevertheless, it is certainly worth a try. -
Old Pulteney Navigator

Reviewed June 2, 2017 (edited August 2, 2017)Cooked apples, honey and vanilla on nose. Oak spice is dominant on palate through sweet finish. Balanced whisky.
