Glenburgie 10 Year Distillery Labels (Gordon & MacPhail)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed May 27, 2017 (edited March 20, 2021)Somewhat floral, with a little raisin there from the Sherry cask, but otherwise a lot of alcohol hitting the nostrils. Although fairly muted, there is some citrus (meyer lemons), malt and vanilla on the palate. Decent mouthful, but the finish is short. Unfortunately, there isn't much to this whisky. Maybe it needs a bit more ageing... or maybe serve a better purpose in a good old blended Scotch. -
Aberlour 16 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 26, 2017 (edited August 2, 2017)A bouquet of dried fruit and vanilla. Smooth, sweet and nutty palate. Fresh oak notes on the finish are a bit off-key, but all in all a very enjoyable dram. -
Compass Box Great King St Glasgow Blend
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed May 26, 2017 (edited August 2, 2017)Peat smoke and pear on the nose, sweet toasted cereal and some spice on the palate. Surprisingly long finish. I'm impressed. -
Glen Scotia 15 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed May 26, 2017 (edited January 27, 2020)Honey and candied fruit on the nose, and pleasently oily mouthful. Burst of citrus on the palate balanced nicely with a touch of salt and oak spice finish. I could drink this stuff every day. -
BenRiach Septendecim 17 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed May 25, 2017 (edited August 2, 2017)Peat and fresh oak on the nose, with some fruit (bananas) and cinnamon spice on the palate for a fairly robust mouthful. Slightly mentholated on the finish. Overall, the flavours did not come together as nicely as I had hoped. -
GlenDronach Parliament 21 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 25, 2017 (edited August 31, 2020)Dried wine skins on the nose, some dried fruit and sweetness to the palate. Finish is remarkably short. I'm a bit disappointed considering its age and price tag.
