Bunnahabhain Mòine
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 14, 2021 (edited October 30, 2022)Young, brave and angry. Peated one. The bite is fresh and clean. No bitterness or harsh finish. Short smoky finish. Young can be good too. -
What is this? Plain Arran malt whisky finished in Sauternes wine barrels. Sauternes is a French white and sweet dessert wine. Where do dry oak, hard tannins, spiciness, and burning alcohol at the finish come from? A small splash of water helps, but I would rather enjoy my whisky than drink tap water. 5.5.2021 note: let it sit for a few minutes, add little water and it's not so harsh and burning. Spicy and balanced. 4 stars.
