pungent berry bush, cherry cola syrup, potpourri, oak, tobacco, burnt brown sugar, cinnamon, just-right sweetness, hot, short, dry maple finish. I bit hot (recently finished a bottle of Maker's Mark Cask strength and this is hotter) but it's a great whiskey that screams Xmas with berries and potpourri. I picture an Xmas Reith every time I take a sniff. Great stuff for $32.

Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 28, 2017 (edited November 16, 2017)Sweet corn with earthy husk is most apparent, tree sap, musky oak, fresh leather, dark cherry coke, cinnamon, hints of mint, hints of port wine (surprised when I saw it on the label, surprised how prominent it is), caramel, burnt sugar, hints of vanilla, hints of mexican candy covered in chilè powder. This is more like a Canadian whiskey than a bourbon. The bourbons I have tried are more spicier with big potpourri. This one is earthy, sweet, and oaky, with nice after thought of spice. It's easy drinking and will easily fit in with my daily drinkers. Try this. -
Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye
Canadian — Manitoba, Canada
Reviewed April 12, 2017 (edited June 8, 2017)Drinking neat: The description on Distiller is pretty accurate. Like walking through an irrigated orchard on a summer day. Sweet fruits, leaves, branches, earth, with a hint of spearmint. For such a high rye bill I'm surprised how much the grain takes control giving big caramel butter popcorn note. Oak is apparent throughout giving somewhat of a cider like aroma with vanilla ever present. There's some nice spice to it but for the most part sweet fruits and earth are in control making this whiskey closer to a scotch rather than what you would expect from an American rye. A pleasant and easy drinking dram. I usually don't drink the same thing over and over but I can easily make an exception for this one. -
Talisker 10 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed February 24, 2017 (edited November 16, 2017)Kippers, earth, iodine, pear, ocean, salt, seaweed, charred wood, pepper chlorine, rotted fruits, sweet cereal malts. The description on the app is pretty much on point. The ocean and smoked peat runs the show more than I though it would and it's kind of like a laphroaig/Highland Park hybrid. -
Cragganmore 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 24, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Honey, melon, floral, chalky walnuts, hints of smoke & brine, oak, pear, vanilla, oatmeal cookie. As the label suggests it's very fragrant & complex. I could get lost in the nose. Flavor is enjoyable and easy drinking. Nothing mind blowing but an enjoyable dram. If you can get a shot of this or buy the 20cl I highly recommend going this route. I don't see myself buying an entire bottle. -
Longrow Peated
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed January 23, 2017 (edited January 26, 2017)Drinking neat: This whiskey gives me flashbacks of my childhood going to Santa Cruz each summer. The ocean is ever present with a solid frosted white cake backbone. Floral, lemon meringue, honeydew melon make their presence known like the other two Springbank variants I've tried (Springbank 10 & Hazelburn 12) plus earth and musky plant. There's some pear as well with hints of banana and vanilla custard. The mouthfeel is almost milky and as easy drinking as Springbank 10. Overall Longrow is my favorite of the 3 I have tried and would say not only is it worth a try, but worth a buy as well.
