High West Campfire (Discontinued)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in Utah), Multiple Countries
Reviewed November 6, 2021Nose: cherries, oak, smoke Palate: caramel, fruit, ash Finish: oaky, bourbon-y Was expecting a bit more smoke but I think the bottle at the bar was about 1/4 full so some of the smokiness may have evaporated. Interesting mix of flavors, tastes like a peated Speyside malt. -

Ragged Branch Double Oaked Wheated Bourbon
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed November 6, 2021 (edited March 3, 2022)Rating at the distillery: Nose: toffee, candy corn Palate: barrel char, chocolate Finish: orange, brown sugar Much more complex than their standard wheated bourbon. Oily mouthfeel. Rating of the bottle I took home: Very bad. Weird sour aftertaste that lingers for a very long time. Maybe I just grabbed a bad bottle but it’s nothing like what I tasted at the distillery.
