Tastes

Nose: salty, caramel Palate: chewy, lemon, more brine Finish: more of the same Solid, would prefer Ledaig 10 to this though.

Nose: brown sugar, spice Palate: orange, spice, caramel, ethanol Finish: relatively short, some spice and ethanol burn Hot but decent…with some water or ice it’s ok but not spectacular for a full strength bourbon. Gives me a headache quickly.

Hot, musty, and sulfurous…I love sherry influence but this is not done well. Not aged enough or poor quality casks.

Not too sweet, rich, earthy, with a little spice. Not a whole lot of depth but for a basic bourbon this is pretty good.

Nose: vaguely fruity, nothing stands out Palate: caramel, stewed fruits, medium mouthfeel Finish: shorter than I would expect from an 18 year. Nothing stands out It’s not bad but is very average despite its 18 year age statement. I suspect they’re using a lot of second or third fill casks.

Nose: cherry, apple Palate: fig, green apple, caramel Finish: tinge of smoke, red wine Similar to Bunnahabhain 12 but less richness and depth of flavor. A bit astringent which is a little off putting.

Nose: cream, earth, marmalade Palate: light smoke, brine Finish: salty Not bad

Nose: orange zest, salt, smoke Palate: peat, more salt and campfire smoke Finish: somewhat thin, more salt and smoke Not bad, definitely peaty, but probably a notch below Laphroaig 10 or Ardbeg 10 which are a little more full bodied.

Oak, leather, cherries, caramel. Not as sweet as I was expecting which is a plus.

Nose: soap Palate: pickles, dirt, leaves Finish: pickle juice This tastes like someone steeped pickle juice with a bar of soap, dumped it on the ground, and squeezed out the liquid from the dirt.
