High West A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 10 (All Scenes)
Rye — USA
Reviewed April 17, 2024 (edited April 18, 2024)T8ke score 7.7 Scene 3. Big finished influence - very wine-like overall. Nose has a mineral tinge with a light sherry-plum-white grape sweetness in the drivers seat. Slight aged oak behind it all. Palate is mineral up front with a dark / dried fruit sweetness quickly taking over. White grape / fig / raisin. Mineral around the edges continues through, finish is medium-long with a good bright punch at first that rolls out with all the sweet fruit notes. Great whiskey for a white wine drinker who wants to change it up. Price is tough, but somewhat justifiable at msrp180.0 USD per Bottle -
Jack Daniel's 12 Year Tennessee Whiskey (Batch 2)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 17, 2024 (edited April 18, 2024)Nose is deep and rich charred old oak with a banana molasses sweetness Taste is big and bold up front - oak / molasses punch. Coats the palate like no other with a wild butteriness. Finishes long with a barrel char, powdered-sugar banana fosters, molasses, and a charred-almond tang. Really good -
T8ke: 7.2 Nose has a big oak punch typical of OF, but not harsh. A carmel-molasses richness backs it up Pallette is a big but mellow oak punch on the front, that rolls into a very rich mollases / brown sugar sweetness the rolls into a deep cherry / fig fruitiness. Finish is suprisingly short though- drops off pretty quick. It would be a great $80-100 bottle. For $150 though, I think it would be hard to pull the trigger. There is better and more interesting whiskey out there for that price.34.0 USD per PourThe Lazy Greyhound

Jammy strawberry / sugar sweet cherry nose with a solid caramel backbone. Pallet is a light caramel with a bright berry sweetness and oak tannins and the edges. Finish is a nice sweet caramel that hangs for a while, berry sweetness turns into sight medicinal tang. Oak tannin turns a little sharper on the finish too.
-
Nose: oily old oak off the bat. Fatty, oxidized vanilla deeper into it with some notes of honey, sherry, rum, and a bit of apricot. Slight rye spice buried in there. Pallet: that the spice surprisingly shows on the front of the pallet - kind of bright for a 15yr. Then nose dives straight off the cliff, down into a fatty almond vanilla oak sherry mid. Average finish - a sweet oak hangs for a bit with tinges of all the favors before. 7.2

Nose is mostly a deep caramel molasses with a hint of maple. Also some dried fruit- raisin, cherry. A little oak tannin too. Pallete is very juicy and fills the front / mid palette. Molasses and dried fruit seem to be the dominate flavors. Dried fruit hangs on the finish with some dry oak around the edges. Almost makes you want to chew on it.
