Maker's Mark 46 Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 21, 2023 (edited November 23, 2023)All of the deep rich flavors are emphasized here: d deep oak, baking spice, caramel, toffee, vanilla with a bit of maple and bright cherry around it all. Some fruit comes out on the end, but it seems to mostly finish with a spicy vanilla oak that hangs for a while. Medium finish. Not typical for makers, and really good. Love the nice sweet cherry pastry-like flavors with a good punch - up my alley.54.0 USD per Bottle -
New Riff Kentucky Straight Bourbon Bottled In Bond
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 4, 2023 (edited November 23, 2023)Pretty good. Not a lot to the nose- pretty cut and dry young oak and vanilla. A bit of jammy peach-like notes in there too. Vanilla opens up big on the palette with a honey sweetness. Tastes like a high rye profile- a little bit of that jammy fruit with the green tea flavor / rye spice comes out, mostly on the tail end. It’s youth shows a little on the tail end, but only if your passing attention. Finishes hangs for a little bit, dissipating into a white pepper spice -
Benchmark Top Floor Bourbon (86 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 11, 2023 (edited November 23, 2023)It has that same muted / rounded but rich carmel butterscotch flavor that i get from Eagle Rare, just less oak, a little thinner, and a little more brightness / bite On the back end that comes from the youth -
Found North Cask Strength Whisky ( Batch 6)
Rye — Canada
Reviewed May 10, 2023 (edited February 15, 2024)The nose doesn’t reveal much. The oak stands out first. Maple sweetness comes into the picture with a little brown sugar / molasses. The palette is freaking awesome. The sip dogs straight into a deep molasses maple syrup flavor. Reminds me of eating a big pancake breakfast in a five star 24/7 diner. I don’t know where the 64% alcohol hides either. There is a dry oak note that hangs out in the background, but it’s not distracting or offputting. The finish is awesome too. Just when it the flavor begins to fade, it comes back and hangs on the back of the tongue in a carmel sweet sort of way. Very enjoyable -
Redwood Empire Lost Monarch Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed May 10, 2023 (edited November 23, 2023)Nose is like a peach / orange / apricot candy down the center. A bit of a green apple tang with a bit of powdered sugar / brown sugar sweetness in the background. Definitely a powdered sugar / marshmallow sweetness on the pallet. A little bit of orange and light red fruit notes, with some floral oak on the finish. -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Strength Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed May 4, 2023Big hitter. The nose reveals the proof pretty darn well. Definitely a lot of darker flavors. Palette is earthy- tobacco, leather, coffee, with some nice vanilla molasses maple sweetness. A lot of toasted oak that ends on almost a charcoal flavor that I’m not a big fan of. Kind of reminds me of the smell of a small town diner during breakfast. Adding water definitely brought out more of the sweet side and tamed the harsher notes. -
Smooth Ambler Old Scout Straight Bourbon (NAS)
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in West Virginia), USA
Reviewed May 3, 2023Definitely a touch of that young medicinal-oak-tannin hit on the nose and beginning of the pallet. Mid pallet opens up into a nice creamy vanilla carmel, then it finishes with a bit of a strong punch with that young note coming a little big back into view. Good stuff overall, not spectacular though.
