Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 1, 2020 (edited October 21, 2020)This is far from a traditional rye. As others have said, I get a bit of a musty nose and I find it very oak forward on the palate. The rye is there but it is subtle compared to what I was expecting. Drinks much lower than it’s ABV and has a fairly dry finish. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Select Bourbon (Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 26, 2020 (edited August 3, 2021)Wish I had picked up another one of these the next day I visited the distillery but to my disappointment I did not. As others have described this is a very rich and sweet pour and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve not had a real creme brûlée so I can’t say for sure that’s what I got but I got what I imagine it would be along with toffee and butterscotch. The mouthfeel was very viscous and satisfying and the finish was medium at best. I will say that I enjoyed this one more at the beginning before it opened up where I feel like the nose kind of went flat. -
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2020
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 25, 2020 (edited September 26, 2020)Absolute caramel bomb on the nose with some toasted marshmallow at first? Once it opens up I got a little more of the oak with a hint of char. Sips a little dry with more of the oak notes in the palate. The finish was not very lengthy but the rest of the pour was so delicious I didn’t punish it!70.0 USD per Pour -

St. George Baller Single Malt Whisky
American Single Malt — California, USA
Reviewed September 16, 2020 (edited April 13, 2021)I’m more of a bourbon guy so I stepped out of the box on this one. Only saying this so you can take my review for what it is. Very floral pour! -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 14, 2020 (edited November 14, 2020)I will start by saying I am a huge fan of barrel strengths so this was right up my alley. Very oak forward on the nose and it did not disappoint throughout. I would love to find a bottle for myself but I will say this one may be worth the secondary prices to grab one....maybe.
