A rum from Guyana! It’s quite characterful. It’s not higher on abv, but you can already tell it’s character. The nose is woody and high ester, it’s over ripe banana. The taste is super smooth, warm, somewhat sweet and a bit savory. On top of that, I’m getting a bit of medicinal cherry type of note, similar note was found in the balcones Texas whisky. It’s overall really tasty.

Smith & Cross Traditional Jamaica Rum
Navy Rum — Jamaica
Reviewed February 23, 2021 (edited July 10, 2021)Holy moly this drink is flavorful! The nose is strong alcohol, but has wood-like ripe fruit scent to it, warm, spicy and almost a bit bitter. The taste is super complex. Depending on what you may have eaten or drank before, the tropical ripe fruit comes through, I get lychee, banana, pineapple, it’s hot but not too spicy, and you can also get salted caramel type of savory sweetness, and also almost a bit of smokiness and almost peatiness in the end. Super interesting. The high ABV does pack a punch. Lovely! -
Plantation XO 20th Anniversary Rum
Aged Rum — Barbados
Reviewed February 20, 2021 (edited March 25, 2021)Smooth rum! This isn’t as flavorful as compared to barbancourt, esp on the spice side. I’m tasting creaminess, sweetness, fruitiness (banana plantain and tropical fruits), and savory, it’s like eating an egg custard with fruits inside. This is such an easy sipper. Def top shelf. -
Rhum Barbancourt Estate Reserve 15 Year
Rhum Agricole Vieux — Haiti
Reviewed February 20, 2021 (edited June 15, 2021)Full of flavor rum! This is 43% which is appreciated. Super full flavor, sweet vanilla dessert, lots of woody spices, cinnamon, sandalwood, clove, and cloves. Flavors need to add water to open up otherwise it’s a bit collapsed as you taste it. It’s not too sweet but sweet enough and not cloying. It’s a lovely sipper on a hot day. -
Bulleit Rye
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed February 13, 2021 (edited March 20, 2021)This is a great eye whisky at a very good price point. I’m not crazy about high abv and this one is just right. Lots of flavor, but smooth and sweet, you get the characteristic rye note which is a bit bitter and dark and spicy, but also desserty sweet, vanilla. It’s a very easy sipper and pleasant to drink neat. I can see it being a great base for cocktail also. -
Knob Creek 9 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed February 12, 2021 (edited March 19, 2021)Quite a nice and easy to drink whiskey, it’s smooth for 100 proof, sweet forward, spice and wood in the mix, darker notes and medicinal cherry tastes. It’s an easy sipper. -
This is a great dram! Smells young for sure, seems less complex but peaty and not too smoky, pea nutty. It lacks complexity but the flavor is consistent with the nose, nutty, quite sweet and not too savory. It has everything I love about argbeg, but not too complex and easy to drink. The flavor is great for its price. A keeper!39.99 USD per Bottle

This is a very good dram. Flavor is flat when first open, but opened up after passing neck pour. Extremely Smokey but not ash tray like, somewhat ashy comparing to everything else such as Argbeg. The peat is there but not as present as smoke. Dark fruit sweet, sherry influence, a bit savory and medicinal and leathery.

Quite a unique blended malt! Nosing is so pretty, sweet, vanilla, spice, quite prominent. Very ripe apple note underneath, almost like stewed apple. A little bit of tart and maltiness. Taste is sweet and a bit tart. Fragrance follows the taste and green grass freshness and peach? Swallowing is quite spicy and sweet and again it’s fragrant going down. Quite a unique experience.56.72 USD per Bottle
