Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon (2014)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 23, 2020Nose- Orange zest, dark fruits, vanilla custard, spearmint, caramel, toffee, maple syrup Palate- Maple candies, Wet oak, rye spices, orange zest, caramel Finish- Long, bold finish with notes of citrus and toffee A nice and bold, well rounded bourbon. Perfect balance of sweet and herbal on the palate and nose, with Four Roses signature emphasis on the Oak. It could be a tad more complex, but regardless, it’s still very enjoyable and I would never turn down a pour. -
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2016

Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited March 28, 2021)Nose- graham crackers, musty wood, vanilla, cherries, caramel Palate- graham crackers, milk chocolate covered raisins, cherry cola, banana bread, vanilla custard Finish- long sweet finish with oak and spice washing over at the very end Delicious... plain and simple. Love this bourbon. Very unique and sweet. I’ve yet to come across a birthday bourbon I don’t enjoy, and this 2016 is no exception -
Van Winkle Special Reserve Lot "B" 12 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited November 25, 2022)Nose- Brown sugar, stone fruits, dark stewed fruits, caramel, cinnamon Palate- creme brulee, caramel, dark fruits, french vanilla, sweet candy Finish- Medium, chewy finish with sweet vanilla and spice Quite disappointed in this, all in all. Ordered from a bar. It’s a good bourbon, there’s no denying that... but it’s hard not to compare it to other offerings that are cheaper and 50x more accessible. *Cough cough EHT single barrel cough cough*. I would pass on this one if given an opportunity to buy it for a penny over MSRP. -
129.7 (2018) Nose- plum, cinnamon rolls, molasses, oak, tart apples, caramel, prunes, vanilla Palate- Dark fruits, vanilla wafer cookies, heavy toasted oak, maple syrup Finish- long, drying finish of wood, cocoa and ginger spice Good nose. Quite complex and hides the alcohol well. Palate is pretty simple, yet enjoyable. I’m kind of torn on this one... while it does have some unique flavors and smells, I found myself not enjoying it as much as other EHT offerings.

Eagle Rare 10 Year Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited December 29, 2020)Eagle rare Store pick (Tequila town) Nose- powdered sugar, cherry, toasted oak, caramel Palate- oak oak oak oak oak. Overpowering, cherry and spicy pepper. Finish- More oak and spice. Short and viscous Great nose on this one. The palate fails completely. Tastes like wet wood with a few bright spots here and there. Would have rather had the core 10 year. -
Nose- brown sugar, banana, bright citrus, warm baking spices, honey, toasted oak Palate- wave of spiced vanilla and butterscotch, brown sugar, chocolate covered peanuts, honey, toasted oak. Finish- Long, buttery finish of burnt sugar, peanuts and oak The nose on this is enjoyable, but very light. It’s not a bold nose, but has many bright notes. The palate on the other hand, is fantastic. Big, bold and in your face with butterscotch and spiced vanilla jumping out. Long and enjoyable finish. I came into this thinking it was overhyped. The palate on this lived up to all the hubbub. Blows the 12 year old “Lot B” out of the water.

Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited March 17, 2020)RR “Brrdman” Store pick 9yr 3mo CNA Warehouse Floor 422- Nose- Burnt graham crackers, cinnamon red hots, caramel, ethanol Palate- Heavy toasted oak, Cinnamon, dark fruits, Vanilla spice Finish- medium, heavy finish of overpowering oak This barrel was picked on a -17• day. Picturing myself on a -17 degree day, this bourbon would be a slam dunk. Super warming and gives a hell of a kentucky hug. On a normal day though, this is about average. It’s nose is subdued with some bright notes, but has ethanol throughout. The palate is the opposite, big bold and in your face. Unfortunately, it has an overpowering flavor of oak. Hopefully as the bottle oxidizes, this will get more balanced and flavorful. -
Parker's Heritage Single Barrel Bourbon 11 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited August 3, 2020)Nose- creamy vanilla, orange soda, black pepper, rich oak throughout, tobacco Palate- smoke and charred oak, spices, roasted nuts, orange, and corn on the cob Finish- Spicy undertones with hints of oak and tobacco Bold and in your face, and anything but sweet. This is a fantastic bourbon that hides its proof on both the nose and finish. Nicely balanced and just what you would expect from an 11 year single barrel bourbon from Parkers. -
Nose- heavy sherry influence, maple syrup, cedar, raisins, soft vanilla Palate- dried fruits, light honey, butterscotch Finish- medium, chewy finish with spice and dried fruits Nose is really nice, with heavy sherry. Palate is good, nothing special though, and not very complex. Finish isn’t very impressive either, and is just average. This is quite a disappointing dram IMO.

Nose- sherry, spiced oak, plums, dark chocolate, lemon oil Palate- Bright citrus, dark chocolate, black cherries, allspice/nutmeg Finish- Long and spicy, christmas spices and dark fruits linger Sherry bomb. Very drinkable at the proof as well. I know these vary from batch to batch, but this one was all around very good. Nothing that will blow you away, IMO, but great sherry flavors presented in a big, bold package.
