Tastes

Nose is usual salty, briny, smoky goodness, but mostly closed. Palate is rich and oily, opens to salty, peaty smoke and lemon-pepper. Paired with some peppered beef jerky, and whisky turned to pineapple and green apples. Quite dry, but vanilla takes over finish, along with smoke. Really nice

Smoke, rubber and brine on nose. Aroma is a classic Islay style, yet more iodine/medicinal presence and slight vanilla. Chewy, viscous whisky. Tonnes of rubbery-peat, then turns burnt and meaty BBQ savouriness. Plenty of bitter char through the palate and finish. Finishes with vanilla bean extract at first. After some sampling, goes to charry-bitterness - BBQ bits. Very nice. Finish (and overall whisky) is never very sweet - nice and bitter/charred. Changes very quickly after some sampling.

Grouse. Nose is sweet, meat, peat. Herbaceous aromas - vegetal, flashes of sweet dark fruits. Mostly smoke. Viscous and oily on the palate, sweet peat remains. The smoke is dry and ashy. Burning hay, fresh tyres, peppery and light sweet fruits come forward. Bitter, dark, herbal, ashy smoke finishes. Lovely.

Nose is bright citrus fruits, caramel/toffee sweetness. Palate: thomped with fresh, juicy green apples and pineapple, it's spicy and vanilla-sweet; and proofy! Dry oak spice and barrel tannin bitterness finishes. It is slightly thin for abv - enjoyable. The longer it aerates and warms, the more the sweet, juicy apples intensify.

Fantastic. Copious amounts of sweet peat on the nose. Fresh tyres turned up ten fold. The sherry is hidden. First taste is sweet smoke and spicy pepper, the sherried fruits reveal after it sits for a while and compounds the sweetness - still balanced. Smoke remains throughout, turns to a herbal ashiness. BBQ galore.

Classic flavours - caramel, honey, vanilla, cooling-mint, spicy heat. Just a bit too sharp and bitter on finish.

Leather, slight spice, sweetness, honey, watery. Overall lacking in flavour and density for the price.

Alcohol very prominent throughout. Sweet, juicy green apple and caramel/vanilla on the nose. Same on the palate, though the apple disappears fast. Finishes with bitter tannins and burnt toast.
