Golden store pick I did A B compare the store pick to regular Woodford Reserve to see if I could pick up anything different. There were not any significant differences really. For me Woodford Reserve was one of my first Bourbons that got me started so it has a place in my Whiskey adventure and I come back to it from time to time. N: Caramel, leather, tabacco, slight vanilla and cherry. P: Delivers everything that was on the nose starting with the tobacco then leather with caramel and cherry in the mid palate F: Short with vanilla and oak.49.99 USD per BottleGOLDEN BEAR LIQUOR

Davidson Reserve Bourbon Single Barrel Golden Bear Store Pick
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed June 17, 2023This bottle was the very first store pick from Golden Bear. There were only two left and I am very happy I was able to get a bottle. I am one bottle away from having all three store picks they have made since they have opened. N: Medicinal cherry, lemongrass, carmel, floral. I love how strong the nose is on this one. The floral notes are my favorite. Added water get fig and dark cherry added to the nose P: Coats mouth very well. I get a hint of chocolate, cranberries, almonds, cherry juice, add water it softens up and brings the citrus flavors out. F: Long and stays for awhile, has heat and extremely enjoyable whiskey. Water cools down the burn from the proof still has a nice long finish Personally I like this over the a sherry finished Scotch (and I love Scotch) this bottle definitely surprised me. Also super cool it was bottled in my birthday.49.0 USD per BottleGOLDEN BEAR LIQUOR -
Heaven's Door Single Barrel Select Cask Strength Golden Bear Store Pick
Bourbon — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed June 6, 2023 (edited June 30, 2023)I have become very close to the people at Golden Bear Liquor Store and I walked in at the time they were unboxing there store pick. As I walk in they said I would be the first person to try it. He asked what thought about it and a I said I will buy a bottle and do a proper review. Here we go! N: Cream soda stands out on the nose, soft vanilla, snickerdoodle cookies P: Buttery, vanilla ice cream and sugar cookies, cloves F: Explosion of heat and honey with medium length It is surprising how sweet this whiskey is. With water the nose goes dominantly more vanilla. Palate goes more honey and black tea on finish. This is different from a classic bourbon but still lands in bourbon territory. Not really oaky but very vanilla. It is interesting how it gave it more vanilla than oak. And very little influence from the rye in my opinion. I leans toward a strong irish in a way that I like. They aaked me to do the rating out of 10 so I would say....... personally.....5.5. This gives you a cask strength experience with familiar flavors and goes a different way than I expected.60.0 USD per BottleGOLDEN BEAR LIQUOR -

Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed June 3, 2023 (edited July 24, 2023)Nose: Maritime and Smoke. Pepper on savory meat. Delicate wine influence. Burnt carmel and raspberries Palate: Starts thin and then slowly expands in a leathery tabacco and salt water and country ham. Finish: Is oak spice, clove and spiced orange Buddies came back from Scotland and poured me a dram of this. Add water opened up smoke and grassy character on the nose. Amplified smokiness and oak spice for me with orange lingering in the finish. -
Springbank 15 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed May 12, 2023 (edited February 25, 2024)This bottle was a Christmas gift to myself. It was the last one on the shelf and I haven't seen another in my travels. Now I will try and attempt to review the Springbank Funk on the nose that in previous tasting has been hard to describe. N: Fig, bright red apples, raspberry jam, sweet pipe tobacco smoke, the sherry influence is strong. A drop of water gave it a fruit roll up note P: Easy going, Sweet mints, like a note I would say comes from like a chewing gum. A tap of smoke but not really noticable with everything else going on. This is where the funk is getting me and is hard to describe now. A drop of water gave me strawberries F:Long and coating fresh like a peppermint patty. Lets you think in-between sips. Perfect conversation whisky. At the end of the finish there is a satisfying sweetness. Finish is the same with a drop of water. I love having this with good friends. It has never gone unappreciated.155.0 USD per BottleStones River Total Beverages
