Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed October 30, 2019 (edited December 1, 2019)Nose is a vanilla malt. Some yellow cake and light cinnamon. Taste is what makes this, it is all rich vanilla cream, more yellow cake, light butterscotch, warming oatmeal with brown sugar. Finish is short and gives you more rounded vanillas. This is an easy and sweet sip. Great for beginners and someone looking for a simple pour. -
Nose is lemony, spicy, some mint. Very cool. Taste has a bit of erasers and young, but opens up to caramel candy, some baking spice, butterscotch and lemon peels. Finish is quick, no heat. Some vanilla pudding and mustiness lingers but the finish is the least impressive of the steps. All and all good whiskey. Would like to try higher proof or more age.

Redbreast Lustau Edition
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed October 29, 2019 (edited December 1, 2019)The nose is butterscotch, baking spice, and malt. An appealing, but not overpowering nose with zero burn. The palate is rich dark fruits like figs, plums, and candied orange. It carries on to vanilla custard and hazlenuts. The finish though....creamy and smooth with a banana cream pie and dulce de leche punch. This is amazing. It should be tried by any fan of whiskey. -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 23, 2019 (edited October 31, 2019)Nose is light, a zip of alcohol comes in first, but opens up with vanilla, cherries, and some citrus. Taste is great - a creamy vanilla with the cherry light caramel I associate with Buffalo Trace products washes over. No warming hug in the finish but flavors mingle for a bit. Cake with some spices linger. A very nice Bourbon that would be easy for someone getting into Whiskey. -
Jefferson's Reserve Pritchard Hill Cabernet Cask Finish
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 9, 2019A big blast of cabernet wine, oak, tannic notes and balsamic in the nose. The flavors in there are complex, that wine finish is present. Chewy mouthfeel gives way to cherries, baking spice, oak tannins, and black olives. Yes black olives, was hard for me to place but in sip 3 I got it. Finish is nice. Mouth coating and sweet for being a wine finish. This begs you to go back in with its complexity and finish.Chevy's Place -
Wild Turkey Bourbon 101

Reviewed September 16, 2019 (edited September 24, 2019)For the money you won't find many better pours. Pours light brown/amber. Nose is vanilla, coffee shop, peanut skins, and light oak. Taste is peanuts, more vanilla, baking spice, & light cherry. Finish is medium, a slight Kentucky hug comes in with cherry and peanut brittle. Solid -
Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 13, 2019 (edited September 24, 2019)This is in my wheel house. Hefty proof with a beautifully dark color. Nose is rich and full with brown sugar, dark cherries, oak, and roasty nuts. Taste is again rich, vanilla, cherry, banana bread & more sweet oak. Finish is long and smooth, mouth coating with just a touch of Kentucky hug. I get some tongue coating over cooked banana bread in the aftertaste. Top shelf.
