Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 1, 2017 (edited November 23, 2018)Bright toffee and oak sweetness, floral rye spice, and a hint of peanut. A little sweeter/richer/spicier than Elijah Craig. Also tastes like a less complex, watered down Booker’s. $53 in Ontario.53.0 CAD per BottleWhite Rabbit -
Wild Turkey Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 1, 2017 (edited August 17, 2018)Smooth but very light, almost watery. Raw oak wood and light caramel sweetness. Not compared side by side but it comes across like a watered down Makers Mark. $32 in Ontario.32.0 CAD per BottleWhite Rabbit -
Sweet oak, caramel and a very slight hint of tobacco. Despite the ABV it’s thin, and a little bland, but it hints generally at the robust flavour profiles that other Buffalo Trace Distillery bourbons are renowned for. Save your money and opt for Weller, or Blanton’s, or Stagg, or Taylor... $43 in Ontario.43.0 CAD per BottleWhite Rabbit

Same profile as it's younger sibling with slightly less rye burn and more robust caramelization. Unfortunately it has a dry burnt/charcoal quality that overpowers the rest of the caramelization, and lingers. Like Appleton Estate and its older sibling, it's a bit of a disappointment. Better suited to mixing. $50 in Ontario.50.0 CAD per Bottle

Fairly smooth and sweet initially with caramelized banana/tropical fruit, fennel and pepper. The Distiller notes say it well. Considerably better than Bacardi Superior but also finishes and mixes a bit dry. It basically tastes like a white rum version of Appleton Estate. Mixes well but it can overpower other flavours in cocktails. $27 in Ontario.27.0 CAD per Bottle

Tanqueray London Dry Gin (47.3%)
London Dry Gin — Scotland
Reviewed January 19, 2017 (edited August 17, 2018)Velvety smooth, easy drinking. Soft juniper, a soft hint of citrus, and deep yet gently floral. Adds a smooth gentle juniper and soft floral note when mixed. Makes a dangerously smooth G&T. It makes a great flavoured Negroni but it's missing a bit of the characteristic bitter/citrus punch. The best of the standard budget gins. My criticism would be that it mixes too well. It's beautiful but it's missing a standout punch of character. $28 (and 40% ABV) in Ontario.28.0 CAD per Bottle -
Glen Grant 10 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 8, 2017 (edited August 5, 2017)Fairly smooth with gentle heather honey sweetness and spice. Soft smoke. Pretty well balanced. Certainly good but nothing to get excited about. Not available in Ontario. -
Gooderham & Worts Four Grain Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed January 6, 2017 (edited September 22, 2020)Smooth, sweet and well balanced with caramel/toffee, oak, and rye spice notes. Similar to Wiser's Legacy but smoother, more toffee/corn sweetness. It’s only held back a bit by it’s slightly dry bitter finish. It’s still my pick for the best readily available Canadian Whisky. $50 in Ontario.50.0 CAD per Bottle
