Auchentoshan Three Wood
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 4, 2016 (edited January 31, 2017)Smell: Good mother of scotch! So much flavor packed into such affortable whisky. The dark dark fruits sweetness, clove, nutmeg, dark raisins (again), vanilla and sweet sherry. Let it breath for a minutes and whoaa dark chocolate! Taste: Sweet dark fruits, sherry, spices and little chocolate. A smooth liquid fruit cake? However, with such beautiful flavour it's light bodied and weak mouth feel. You have to take few sips to get all that flavor as its diluted quickly in your mouth~ Finish: short The smell is really great~ many layers of dark fruits sweetness and some spices. Really hope the whisky have more bodied. Well, for the price I cant complain, its quite lovely. 3.8/5 -
Nose: (undiluted) sweet, punchy, strong vanilla Taste: (undiluted) same as the smell, strong vanilla, sweet and punchy palate. Light to medium bodies and smooth Finish: short Smell: (Diluted) well surprise surprise, vanilla and tropical fruits? Maybe mix of vanilla, coconut, mango? Taste: (diluted) after the surprice comes with slight disappointment. Taste sweet vanilla and little fruit and thin bodied. Finish: short-er Undiluted gives you a very vanilla dominant smell and taste with hints of fruits and strong strong alcohol punch! Diluted gives you the pleasant smell but taste abit too thin for me. Erm, a good bourbon? 3.5/5

First sip (neat), Smell of peat smoke and sea which cover other smell. Taste of salt and floral and since it's undiluted the taste is strong Finish a bit dry and medium long 2nd sip (neat) after 20min Smell of peat smoke is slightly decreased more floral and hint of citrus Taste of salt, more fruits and slightly more sweet Finish abit dry and medium 3rd sip (with 2 drops of water) Smell of peat smoke is decreased by a huge margin, more fruits aroma came out and with a hint of sherry. Taste is slightly thinner but with more floral notes and abit sherry, apple and less saltiness Finish abit dry and short What a blend! And very affordable too (since they bottle it 500ml). Nikka from the barrel 4/5 for the price!
