Bon Accord Highland Single Malt (Alexander Murray & Co.)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 5, 2019A lot of funk on the nose- malty. Lots of honey notes, but smells a little sharp. Flavors aren’t as rounded as I’d like but still light and fruity. Taste is slightly Smokey with a bite. Followed by all the sweet honey notes and a crisp spice. As it sits and your pallet adjusts, a warm vanilla comes in with some oily nutty flavor. Overall not bad. Not great. -
Very rounded cake and shortbread notes. Almost with a curl of chocolate on top of cake. Very vanilla forward with very little spice. A bit of fresh citrus coming through. Love the rounded flavors and there is something unique on the nose but very flavorful. Keep getting chocolate cake! Could definitely be a daily drinker for me.

Rounded Oak and a light smoke. Deeper flavor with some vanillas and general caramel notes poking through. Small amount of spice on the pallet, baking spices. Descent bit of lingering oils on the pallet. Fresh citrus but wish there was more, citrus is sort of bitter on the back end like its more of the peel than the fruit. Added a touch of water and it killed the bitter and spice a bit for me which was nice. More of the highland pops out. Solid drinker. Not amazing.

Very basic. Reminds me of an Irish. Smells young. You can taste a bit more of the spice due to its proof but it’s harsh due to its age. Sweet fruit and vanilla. Bit of complexity but the bite overwhelms the flavor. Adding water brings out the vanilla and cuts the bite after the first sip. Butterscotch and peach cobbler with carmalized sugars. Overall...pretty underwhelming. The ABV is much appreciated, but could do better with longer in the barrel.
