Amrut Intermediate Sherry
Single Malt — Bangalore, India
Reviewed June 8, 2015 (edited July 16, 2016)Excellent sherry bomb done right. Good quality casks, barrell strength, good value for money. Tasty and complex. A worthy investment that can hang with some of the best scotches. -
High West A Midwinter Night's Dram
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed June 2, 2015 (edited February 11, 2018)I have had rendezvous rye side by side with Sazerac 18 year old and for me rendezvous was better. I am from rye country in Canada that produces the rye sourced by whistle pig and mastersons, and rendezvous was better. Adding a port finish only adds more complexity making this, in my opinion, up there with the finest American whiskey on the market. Someone knows what they are doing. An absolute knockout. Kudos high west. -
Compass Box Hedonism Quindecimus
Blended Grain — Scotland
Reviewed May 27, 2015 (edited September 7, 2016)How can you say, "This is a very good whisky, even more elaborate and complex than the standard Hedonism bottlng. " and rate it 88, while the standard bottling is ranked 97 on distiller...doesn't seem like an accurate rating -
Black Bull 12 Year (Duncan Taylor)
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed April 13, 2015 (edited August 15, 2017)In my opinion, this is a very underrated whisky. A generous 50%abv, a full flavoured, sherried whiskey with a lot of body and balance. This represents terrific value as well. One of my favs. -
Koval Single Barrel Four Grain
Other Whiskey — Illinois, USA
Reviewed November 22, 2014 (edited February 28, 2022)Another new distillery that needs to keep this stuff in the barrels for a few more years. As much as you want to support the little guy, without the quality it's hard to want to purchase this again.
