Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 28, 2021 (edited December 27, 2021)Nose - pleasant floral notes and sweet, vanilla creme Palate - thin mouthfeel is immediately noticeable, it is sweet and fruit forward Finish - short, minimal warmth Not bad, but there are far better pours from far cheaper bottles out there than Angel's Envy50.0 USD per Bottle -
Nose - vanilla and corn up front, gives way to caramel and baked fruit pies Palate - sweet and rich, the rye spices and heat are up front. no one flavor stands out over the others. Not the highest complexity, but it is a very enjoyable pour. Outstanding value if able to find at MSRP Finish - long and warm, heat lingers for a long while
-
Nose - caramel, vanilla, citrus, ends with chocolate notes on the end Palate - silky and rich sweetness, floral notes with more classic bourbon flavors of vanilla and caramel with some baking and rye spices at the end. Very smooth and easy sipping bourbon that is quite satisfying for a relatively low 93 proofer Finish - medium to long, there is lingering warmth55.0 USD per Bottle

Maker's Mark Private Selection Milkshake (OHLQ All-Star Collection)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 20, 2021Nose - heavy notes of vanilla cream, like decadent freshly baked cupcakes Palate - rich buttery vanilla, outstanding mouthfeel that is deliciously mouthwatering, gives way to baking spices with a kick at the end Finish - long and warm Solid pour, but the other Maker's private selections have a bit more complexity that I would have liked to see with this bottle. It does live up to its name of "milkshake", and it truly does feel like a dessert.70.0 USD per Bottle -

Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 9, 2021Nose - sweet cinnamon brown sugar Palate - very sweet vanilla caramel with spices that come forward on the end Finish - warm and long with baking spices, raisin notes Note quite as complex as the old ezra barrel strength, but this is a stellar pour for a $35 bottle -

Cleveland Underground Bourbon Whiskey Finished with Apple Wood
Bourbon — Ohio, USA
Reviewed September 25, 2021Nose - notes of caramel apple and cinnamon Palate - very sweet, not overly complex; has a thin mouthfeel, but it is pleasant for what tastes like a young bourbon, surprisingly has some kick for a 90 proof with baking spices shining through at the end Finish - short finish with some warmth Received this bottle as a gift. It is a surprisingly pleasant sipper. Its light color makes me assume it is a young spirit, but the bottle writes that it is "finished with an advanced pressure and oxygenation process which adds a series of flavors and aromas never before experienced in traditional whiskies". I would say the technique has paid off for this distillery, as it has exceeded all expectations for a Cleveland bourbon. -
Heaven's Door Single Barrel Cask Strength Straight Bourbon (OHLQ Selection #1 Barrel #283)
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed September 23, 2021 (edited August 7, 2022)Nose - sweet classic bourbon aromas of caramel, corn - nothing too robust or distinct in any particular direction Palate - sweet is the main characteristic. flavors of candy corn, some spice but not harsh at all - very smooth for a 116.8 proof, thinner mouthfeel but not unpleasant. Tastes like young bourbon Finish - medium to long, warm, satisfying Not bad for a $53 MGP product. It's a solid sipper but feels a tad young. I bet this would have the been an outstanding bourbon if it was aged longer to get a more complex portfolio of flavors from the oak53.0 USD per Bottle
