Certainly thicker and sweeter than FC Centerbe. Flavor: Fruity up front, with bergamot pear, and plum. Mids as gentle spearmint, fennel, and chamomile. Faccia Bruto Centerbe
Bitter Liqueurs — Brooklyn, USA
Reviewed January 14, 2022 (edited November 8, 2023)1.14.21 Served: Neat Bottle Open: 6Mo-1Yr Side by side with chartreuse Aroma: Mostly fennel, some basil and oregano notes. Very savory and "green" compared to the minty and aqueous nature of chartreuse. Flavor: Mouthfeel is thinner. Starts with cardamom and fresh spices. Finishes with fennel and a bitterness leads into anise left on the tongue. -
1.8.22 Served: Neat Bottle Open: Same Day Aroma: Very gentle for a mezcal. Smoke, polished leather, old carpet, blue cheese, sour milk, dried fruit. Flavor: The very same as the aroma, but mild enough to be inoffensive. Slightly sweet with a very thin body. Overall kind of boring but very sippable/shootable.34.0 USD per BottleBinny’s

Xoriguer Gin de Mahón
Gin de Mahón — Menorca, Spain
Reviewed January 4, 2022 (edited October 18, 2024)1.4.22 Served: Neat Bottle Opened: Same Day Aroma: Crushed juniper berries. Citrus peels (mainly lemon, with light grapefruit/orange depth) a light earthiness. Flavor: Starts as citrus, mids as powdery and savory juniper berry. Finishes clean and bitter. Overall very much like a london dry gin with a cleaner start and more bitter finish. -
1.3.22 Served: Neat Bottle Open: 3 Months Aroma: Mainly earthy, with some dried fruit and mint. Smells like a dash of fernet added to cynar. Flavor: Medium bodied. Starts like spiceless ginger. Mids with menthol/cough drop, candied orange, and earthiness. Tasted more like minty cynar when sitting on the tongue, and more like powdered candies (smarties, pez) when aerated throughout the mouth. Finishes like powdery smarties candy as well. Overall very easy drinking and has a manageable level of sweetness.

1.2.22 Served: Neat Aroma: Molasses, fig, panettone (raisin, cinnamon, bread) proofy spice cabinet. After aroma fatigue, the honey becomes evident (clover or orange blossom). Taste: Starts syrupy sweet with maple syrup or honey. Mids as simple raisin. Finishes with lingering sweetness, bitterness, and a burn that is either proof or spice. Aftertaste and bitterness level are close to fernet. Overall impression: Dried fruit, honey, fernet.

1.1.21 Aroma: Orange and grapefruit peels, savory grain alcohol. Flavor: Starts as orange and vanilla. Mids as syrupy baking cocoa. Finishes like angostura bitters with gentian and clove. Very easy to drink neat or rocks. Gets drowned out by whiskey in a manhattan or by a 2:1:1 gin sour (lemon). Might be suited to a martinez.

12.31.21 Served: Rocks Bottle Open: Unknown (Bar) Aroma: Grape juice, pear. Flavor: Tastes like a dry moscato with a hint of pear. Slightly higher acid than carpano bianco. All Aromatization notes are lost either by serving chilled (my mistake) or improper storage (bottle was on a rail with a speed pourer, but may have been kept chilled and sealed overnight without my knowledge).9.0 USD per PourHey Nonny Live Music + Local Kitchen

12.31.21 Served: Rocks Bottle Open: Unknown (Bar) Aroma: Oxidative sherry and herbs. Taste: Sherry, oregano, tomato. Not quite the herbal bomb that is dolin rouge, the oregano and tomato are very suppressed. Pronounced bitter finish, which I look for in a vermouth. Not offensive, just boring for vermouth. Bottle may have been improperly kept. Need to try again.9.0 USD per PourHey Nonny Live Music + Local Kitchen
