Plantation 3 Stars White Rum
Silver Rum — Multiple Countries
Reviewed May 12, 2020 (edited July 27, 2020)Wow, the lead Distiller tasting review for this is spot on! Banana and sugar on the nose; banana, passion fruit, sugar and vanilla, and some funky grassiness on the pallet; floral and vanilla finish. Medium viscosity for good mouthfeel. Light light yellow color. Easy to drink straight, a joy to mix. This has become my go-to light rum mixing choice. Makes a good Canchanchara substitute for Cuban light rum. -
Floral and fruity nose, with sweet cereal. Spicy rye up front in the mouth, then sweet grass and big vanilla, and charred oak. Finish is moderate, with charred oak and spicy astringent nettles. Medium body, light mouthfeel. Beautiful auburn color and handsome bottle/packaging. Easy sipping rye, opens up with some ice/water. Has grown on me over time. Proof that JD is not a one trick pony, and can produce a quality premium produce.

Skip Rock Distillers, Nocino Walnut Liqueur
Nut Liqueurs — Snohomish, WA, USA
Reviewed February 26, 2020Skip Rock Nocino, made in Washington with green walnuts and bottled at 33% ABV in 375ml. Dry nuts and wood on the nose. Light maple syrup, bitters, and then lightly toasted walnut, fading quickly in finish. Ok for mixing cocktails. Would like to see a drier and more assertive walnut flavor profile for sipping. -
