Tastes

Nose: sweet, vanilla, oak, and a little floral. Very strong nose. Palate: smooth, sweet, vanilla, and oak Finish: medium length, sweet and oak A really good bourbon.

A little bland for a single malt, probably because of the triple distillation. Nothing objectionable just not great. Mild fruit on the nose, slight spice on the palate with a little sweetness and fruitiness. Medium length finish that is mildly spicy.

Nose: sweet, honeysuckle, vanilla, mild spice Palate: heavy oak flavors, moderately spicy, floral sweetness Finish: medium length, lingering spice, floral notes, oak tannins, mild sweetness A bold and enjoyable bourbon. Not as complex as I expected but still very good.

Nose: strong grain alcohol astringency, sweet, spicy, very little peat. Palate: grain alcohol astringency is still present but not as front and center as on the nose. Spicy, mild peat, moderately sweet. Finish: medium length, continued spice, mild peat, and grain alcohol astringency. Overall very good for a budget blend. I think it should be rated higher than it is.

Nose: mild spice, vanilla, floral Palate: moderately spicy, a little tart, honey Finish: short, dry, spicy, a little tart A good budget bourbon. Not particularly complex but nothing objectionable either.

Nose: spicy, sweet, acetone, ash Palate: intense alcohol burn at this proof, thick, rye and oak spices, corn, sweet Finish: medium long, sweet corn, spicy, rich, oily A little bit of water brings out floral notes on the nose and palate.

Nose: very light. Ash and a little vanilla. Palate: thin, barrel spice, mild sweetness Finish: medium length, spicy, mild smoke Not complex at all. Very smooth and easy to drink. Nothing objectionable at all but just not as interesting as I would like.

Nose: sweet, maple syrup, mild oak, mild spice Palate: lots of rye spice, honey and maple sweetness, oak spice Finish: medium to long, oak, honey/maple sweetness, mild spice A really good rye, especially for the price.

Nose: sweet, candy corn, agave, musty Palate: spicy, sweet, thick, corn, musty Finish: medium length, sweet, moderately spicy I’ll be honest, at first smell and taste this made me think of cheap tequila. I wasn’t sure how to describe it but that’s the thought that came to mind. I really didn’t like it. By the end of the glass it started to grow on me. It is unique and interesting. Definitely nothing like a standard bourbon, which is what I expected and probably why I was so put off at first. I still think it has as much or more in common with tequila and bourbon. Worth trying for the unique factor, but not my style.

Nose: corn, vanilla, browned butter, maple Palate: spicy, oak, sweet Finish: medium length, oak spice, sweet corn I like it a lot better than the first time I tried it. Still not as complex as I would have expected for a 10 year old bourbon, but very good.
