Nose: honey, caramel, sweet, mild peat Palate: mild peat, mildly spicy, caramel, sweet, honey, malty Finish: medium length, spicy, mild peat, lingering candy/caramel A very enjoyable scotch. Smooth with just enough complexity and kick to keep it interesting. I hadn’t heard of this scotch until receiving it as a gift but I will definitely be buying another bottle when this one runs out.

Macallan Double Cask Gold
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 4, 2019 (edited March 4, 2020)Nose: sweet, toffee, caramel, malt Palate: smooth toffee, caramel, sweet, mild spice Finish: medium to long finish, spice sweet, malt, oak An exceptionally smooth and well balanced scotch. Definitely recommend. -
Nose: saw dust, corn Palate: light, sweet, banana taffy Finish: short to medium length, candy sweetness, mild spice Mild and easy to drink. There is nothing objectionable about it, but there is nothing really noteworthy either. It doesn’t have an age statement, and from the lack of complexity and barrel influence I suspect it’s very young.

Corsair Triple Smoke American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed June 12, 2019 (edited October 11, 2020)Nose: gun oil, sweet, cherry, berries, a little bit of smoke Palate: sweet, very smokey, banana taffy, a little bit of malt, floral, a little spicy Finish: moderately spicy, smokey (peat and other), gun oil again. This is a very unique whiskey. It is complex and interesting, but not very enjoyable. It is a little like drinking the smells that come to mind when cleaning a gun. I really like the idea behind it and love that whiskey makers are experimenting and getting creative. Unfortunately this one is just not my taste.
