Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whisky
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 12, 2022 (edited August 3, 2022)Nose of rich caramel and butterscotch. With corn bread, cherries, and bananas, and finally a nice helping of oak. Enjoyable. Palate is more of the same, sweet caramel and vanilla and corn bread, again with that banana taste. Oak carries the finish. It's s a little spicy, but not too much, and is accompanied by a cherry sweetness. It took me a while to write this review. I had a hard time describing what I was tasting. However, I knew from the first sip that this bourbon was amazing. Highly recommend. -
Good rich miuthfeel. I get caramel with some citrus and floral notes up front, but they are overpowered by a ton of rye and oak. Finish is pretty spicy with rye and is accompanied by some more of that citrus. Overall also has a bit of a medicinal flavor to it. Fans of high rye and spicy finishes should try this one. I, however, am not generally a fan of high rye bourbons and for that reason, and only that reason, I'm out.

Maker's Mark Private Selection Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 3, 2022 (edited October 29, 2022)On the nose I get an assortment of sweet notes including maple, caramel, vanilla, and oak. Nothing too unique, but pleasant enough. Upon first sip I notice thats its very rich and full bodied with an overall sweet flavor profile. I got more of the caramel and vanilla and oak mainly. I couldn't pick out much of anything else. Very spicy finish, heavy with oak, with a decent amount of heat. Packs a punch. Left me with an aftertaste of coffee. Overall it was a little one sided on the sweet end of the spectrum. I liked the full bodied mouthfeel, but didn't care for the spicy finish. Plus it was a little hot for my liking. -
The nose is sweet with cherry, vanilla, caramel, and oak Palate is about the same, sweet caramel and vanilla and then oak takes over. Finish is a lot of oak with a little rye spice and some lingering sweetness. Not complex by any means, but sure is tasty. The oak isn't overpowering, I think the sweetness balances it out. Traditional bourbon flavors in perfect harmony. One of my go to bourbons.55.0 USD per Bottle

George Dickel 15 Year Tennessee Single Barrel
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed June 30, 2022 (edited July 12, 2022)Nose is nice and sweet, full of chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter, caramel, and orange zest at first, but then corn and oak quickly take over. Heat present but not overpowering. I can't get enough of the peanut butter notes, really good. Palate pretty fruit forward, with cherry and orange jumping out along with butterscotch and pretty heavy oak. Long finish is mostly orange with lots of oak, with minimal rye spice. A faint nuttiness hangs on til the end. Really nice. I get a lot of sort of bold contrasting flavors that all seem to work together nicely and create a pretty enjoyable flavor profile. It's very sweet but the dry oak helps keep it balanced. I'd recommend everyone try this. -
Smoke Wagon Small Batch Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed June 29, 2022 (edited July 1, 2022)Nose is faint. Vanilla is a pleasant stand out, backed up by oak. Mild caramel. Ethanol is hard to ignore. Not much else. Strong vanilla flavor with lots of dry oak. Also get some caramel and maybe a little bit of a nutty flavor. Again, not much else I can pick up on. Finish is dry with a ton of oak and spice, and is fairly hot. Overall I wasn't too impressed. Didn't have too much going on and the oak really overpowers it for me. Plus it's a little hotter than I was expecting. -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 27, 2022 (edited November 2, 2022)The nose is sugary sweet, like cotton candy. That and green apple are the most prevalent notes I got. Also pick up on vanilla and honey, with some faint butterscotch and oak in the background. Has a nice syrupy mouthfeel, in a good way. Is very fruit forward, but overall matches the nose. Again the green apple stands out, and I also got orange zest, vanilla, honey, butterscotch, cotton candy, and oak. Some spice comes in on the tail end. The finish is nice. I get even more green apple, along with some spice and oak, which balance nicely. Finish is long and enjoyable and left me with a nice fruity aftertaste. Overall I think it's sweet, but not overly so. Fruit forward but also comes across as pretty well balanced. Would recommend.70.0 USD per Bottle -
On the nose I get some sweet cornbread first and foremost, also butterscotch, oak, and a faint nutty aroma like peanuts. Some mild ethanol was also present, but not overpowering at all. I also at first got some chemical type smell (that I likened to cocaine), but after I drank a little I didn't notice it anymore. Tastes very similar to how it smells. I get sweet cornbread with some peanuts, along with strong butterscotch, and some vanilla and a little oak. Finish is long and smooth with not much heat at all. Overall very sweet finish with some oak. Conclusion: I liked it. It went down easy. With the proof being on the bottom end of the spectrum (90 proof) it wasn't surprising that it went down so easy. The nutty characteristics make it somewhat unique in my experiences. It's somewhat one sided with it's sweetness, which is present throughout the nose, palate, and finish. Sweetness overpowers though and doesn't have the balance to drink a lot of it.

Woodinville Double Barrel Blended Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — Washington, USA
Reviewed May 16, 2022Nose is butterscotch with undertones of honey and oak. It is fantastic IMO, smells like candy. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side, however makes up for it in flavor. Palate is dominated by straight butterscotch, with notes of oak, honey, and tobacco. Finish is long, and is more of the same, filled with sweet butterscotch and oak with some spice and really mild heat, and finally fades into an aftertaste of dry oak. This bourbon tastes like candy and I love it. Unfortunately I don't think I can get a bottle of it around here. I would love to get ahold of another bottle to see if it lives up to this one. What a gem.50.0 USD per Bottle -
For the nose I got vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, and leather Palate is sweet up front, with caramel and honey, with rye spice and oak taking over the finish. I couldn't put my finger on a lot of the flavors going on so I'll have to revisit this again to see what I can pick up on. Definitely an interesting one. Worth a try.50.0 USD per Bottle
