Redbreast 15 Year
Single Pot Still — IrelandTasted August 8, 2022First note: Much the same as the 12 year 40% ABV only more and better.
Writers’ Tears Distillers Edition
Blended — IrelandTasted August 8, 2022Affordable and powerful at 46%. Fresh, vanilla, cinnamon, green fruits. Oak is way in the background. So clean and happy. Starts sweet, ends dry and focused. This is good, excellent Irish pot still whiskey.
Oban 14 Year
Peated Single Malt — Highlands, ScotlandTasted July 31, 2022First note: Good malt, better than I thought.
Woodford Reserve Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USATasted July 31, 2022First note: The rye is not dominant, it's like a very good, soft and round bourbon.
Springbank 15 Year
Peated Single Malt — Campbeltown, ScotlandTasted July 31, 2022Beautiful! Very different from Springbank 10 because of the sherry casks, but it is still Springbank. Thick, creamy and delicious. Beautiful casks!
Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky
Single Grain — JapanTasted July 31, 2022Super easy, vanilla cream, caramel candy, white chocolate delight. Very pretty, mellow, clean, fresh and exciting. An Irish feel to it.
Arran Small Batch Heavily Peated - Sherry Casks - Bottled Exclusively for Sweden
Peated Single Malt — Islands, ScotlandTasted July 30, 2022Deep red color, presumably from all the sherry which I am not a big fan of. Still powerful and all right. How much sherry was in those casks really. Where's the peat in all this mess. The malt barely survives.
Johnnie Walker Black Label
Peated Blend — ScotlandTasted May 1, 2022Surprisingly good. Thin, fresh, nothing bad. The malt is good and interesting, sweet fruit, toffee, bakery, old house, leather, ending on a mellow note of gun powder smoke. Super easy and good enough for me.
Peated Single Malt — Islay, ScotlandTasted March 19, 2022Yes it is good. Sweet, medicinal, forest, powerful, seaside, earthy, moss peat. Less medicinal than 10-year-old? Still, lively, sits around for a good while. Slightly one-dimensional because overload but that doesn't matter too much. It is what it is.
The Singleton of Dufftown 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, ScotlandTasted December 12, 2021First impression was: no way, Glenfiddich left in the microwave, like overprocessed and mute, pale, thin, artificially colored. Further down the bottle it is okay, Speyside fruity, honey, slightly briny, and quite okay. Still thin, it works and maybe good enough.
