Booker's Bourbon Batch 2020-01 "Granny's Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 24, 2020 (edited November 24, 2020)This is another solid bookers. I get peanut brittle and apple cider on the nose. The palate carries over with strong fruit notes apple and peach. Not as peanut forward on the palate as the nose. Thick mouthfeel with a long finish. This is good. I would need to compare with previous versions to see if it is better. I would buy if you can get 80 bucks or less. -
W.B. Saffell Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 18, 2020 (edited January 5, 2022)Nose: Caramel frosted sugar cookie. Palate: Rich and thick. Dark caramel and oak on the front end. Almost get a little banana like a Brown Forman product. Absolutely delicious. Transitions mid palate to some rye spice and lingers with a good moderate finish. This is one of the better pours I have had this month. Wish this was easier to find. -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 16, 2020 (edited September 6, 2020)I had this in a blind. It came in last place... Sorry Blanton’s fans... This barrel was not good. The nose was nonexistent with slight sweet tea notes. The palate was much the same. Watered down sweet tea with a weird rye spice finish. It was not bad, but it was not good. -
Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 16, 2020 (edited September 4, 2020)I had this in a blind. It won against buffalo trace, Weller special reserve, and Blanton’s. On the nose I get cherry Twizzlers and oak. On the palate there is oak, cherries, and caramel. It has a nice thick mouthfeel that’s coasts well. My only knock is the shorter finish. This is an amazing pour for the price. A must buy. -
I get chocolate and oak on the nose of this. Great nose. The palate has some nice caramel, oak, and dried apple. The finish is moderate with some good rye spice notes. This is a good pour that gets lost in Beams other offerings. Would prefer this at 100 proof or higher. Solid offering that you will not regret purchasing.

George Dickel Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed August 9, 2020 (edited October 24, 2020)This is interesting. I get pear and tobacco on the nose. On the palate there is light vanilla and sweet tea on the front and that Dickel minerality on the back. Think flint stone vitamins. The finish is relatively short. This is decent. Not a bad pour. The vitamin notes are just too much for me. Would not be my first or second pick at this price point.
