Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 29, 2017 (edited December 16, 2017)Dry, sneaky, smooth, thin, light, peppery spice, mild Carmel sweet... and good. Doesn’t disappoint for the money. -
High West Campfire (Discontinued)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in Utah), Multiple Countries
Reviewed October 29, 2017 (edited December 17, 2017)Take the pretty picture and bottle away, forget the uniqueness that High West brings with other bourbons - and you get this: a bourbon that tastes like many other $12-$16 bottles and you pay over $30. I couldn’t seem to find many redeeming qualities about this bottle- hot floral, bitter finish, lacked complexity. -
Jack Daniel's Old No. 7
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed October 24, 2017 (edited January 6, 2020)This stuff is probably integrated into my DNA- I’ve been drinking it since I was 14 years old. How can I give it any less than a 3? Bananas, pears, celery, pine nuts, crumbled dry wall, high school gym socks, rusty chicken wire soaked, fresh rainwater on oily blacktop, cotton candy, cheap dog food, Andy’s hot fries, post-asparagus urine, soy sauce, hot dog water, residual coco puffs milk, chicken bouillon cubes, the bubble gum stick found in a package of garbage pale kids cards, 9v batteries on your tongue, ginger snaps, wheat bread, and tooth floss blood are all not what this tastes like. - One could pen a bunch of deeply descriptive intellectual minutia in pursuit of some profound realization about this whiskey, However; just as Coca-Cola tastes like Coca-Cola, and Chicken tastes like chicken - This whiskey tastes like Jack Daniels. -
Wild Turkey Bourbon 101
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 21, 2017 (edited November 16, 2017)Great bourbon for the money, has all the great elements., slightly boring but better than most in this price range. -
Sazerac Rye 18 Year (Fall 2016)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 20, 2017 (edited December 3, 2020)Didn’t know I was about to taste a run of the mill rye that has about 1/4 the complexity of crown rye when I laid down 40 cool ones PLUS TIP for 1oz of this stuff- I turned around looking for the bar owner to perhaps look into his eyes with the message of "dude?! did you refill this bottle with Rittenhouse or something? Lame.. but who knows- bad batch, year, bottle perhaps? All in all I was disappointed. I love buffalo trace, and the saz/buffalo nose is there... but this release is not worth your hard earned $$- Look else wear. -
Reminds me of Stagg, Elmer, and other Hot floral oak bomb bourbons - it’s pretty complex, however the back end is so fiery and unsmooth that it overpowers the nice parts of the initial taste. If you like melt your face off floral hot bourbons then this is for you, but if you like smooth full flavored sippers like willett and weller then this should get kicked down your list.

Baker's Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 15, 2017 (edited August 8, 2019)I could only imagine a 12-15 year old barrel of this stuff becoming some sort of industry changer - the flavors are absolutely amazing. It’s definitely in my top 5. I can’t say enough good things about this little surprise. Buy the bottle and you won’t regret it. Sweet strawberry cinnamon spiced brown sugar. Zagnut, light Carmel, ethanol, Cajun spices
